Customer Review of absoultely incompetent work done by Barneys Police Supply & Hunting in Lafayette, LA.

I will go so far to clearly state that the individual who did the work on my S&W M&P 9c (9mm pistol) has absolutely NO aptitude, or training for firearms work of any kind and doesen't give a rats a** about quality whatsoever.

In June of this year 2016, I drove 70 miles to Lafayette, LA to have Barney's gunsmith, or armorer install a front XS Big Dot sight on one of my handguns, which required the removal of the existing S&W factory front sight. I have done this many times myself on Glocks and a few other pistols; however, the S&W M&P sights are installed at the factory with the usage of a hydrolic press designed for that task which makes the removal of them very difficult unless your are a qualified armorer, or have a proper sight removal tool which makes the task simple without damaging, or maring the gun.

The front sight was removed properely without any damage to the sight, or the gun, but the XS Big Dot front sight had the living s**t bashed out of it on the corners of the retangular dovetail plateform the sight was secured to, and the sight itself, was beaten-up also; obviously, with a metal punch that was not taped, or protected.

To make matters worse, clearly after figuring out that the bottom of the sight had to be filed just a bit to fit into the guns dovetail slot, the idiot filed it down so much that it would slide through the dovetail slot with just a slight amount of finger pressure. This is absolutely the wrong way to install the sight.

I provided the Front Sight and a new Delrin drift punch that came with the install kit that I have used on over a dozen Glock sight installs that cannot possibly damage the sight, or the gun, and the Barney's “gun guy” chose NOT to use it, instead he used a steel punch to beat the living s**t out of the sight. The XS Big Dot sight installation on a Glock is absolutely the easiest sight installation for a handgun there is. I'm not a gunsmith,, nor do I have any armorer training yet I've done over a dozen Glock sight installations with absolutely flawless results. I expected that the problem effort would be the removal of the factory sight, which they accomplished by using a sight removal tool.

SUMMARY

The individual that installed the front sight on my gun has absolutly NO aptitude for any firearms work and has the worst quality standards that I have ever encountered in any detail work on anything.

I complained about the lousy quality and received an email response from Marc LeBlanch who said he was the Operations Manager, and went on to say that Barnry's is rated NUMBER 1 in the state of Louisiana for it's sales and service, and that a “FACTORY BEST PRACTICES” procedure was performed on my 9mm handgun. He must have learned how to BS from Hillary Clinton.

I had to remove the ugly, battered sight from my gun just by pushing it off gently with my thumb to examine the dovetail slot on the gun in order to determine if the gun was mared by the idiot who did the work on it. Had that been the case, I informed Mr. LeBlanch that I would make Barney's buy me a new slide. Fortunately, that was not the case with the exception of a minor scratch that should not have occurred.

I called Barney's in advanced and they told me that they could do the job for $20.

  1. I drove 70 miles each way from Marksville to Barneys in Lafayette, LA

  2. Paid $65 for the sight +shipping

  3. Barney's charged me $20 for their s**t work

CAUTION ! Don't let these people do any work on your firearms, as they are not qualified and don't give a rats a** about quality of work!
