It all started when I received an advertising Email From Beautex.com Inc. Their website said - 500$ for Laser tattoo Removal level 1 - a 1 day course. Kim (the sales director /Owner), said as I lived so far away, ( I could not afford to fly back and forth twice to get my certificate) I would need 2 days of training to safely operate this Nd yag Laser for tattoo removal. I flew down to toronto(paid flight and hotel) to take the course from her at the end of November. I was trained for 6 hrs on day 1, and 8 hours on Day 2. . I completed and paid for the Laser Tattoo Removal workshop/Course level 1. They also showed me how to remove sun damage, Freckles, Hyperpigmentation(age Spots), and spider veins through Beautex Advanced Esthetic Supply and Training Center. When I got back from the course, my friend who runs a tattoo supply business, showed me the identical Laser for 2000 dollars retail, which anyone could purchase directly from the "Noble Laser" Factory In China($2500 shipped to your door), through Alibaba.com.(Kim, the owner, told everyone at the course I was attending, the Laser was from the United States) I really was intending to purchase the Nd yag laser from Beautex.com Inc. for their expertise and service plan but when you live 800 miles away from their Laser technician and repair people it is a waste of money. For $9500 I can buy 3 of the same lasers and insure them!

At the beginning of December, I called Kim Hartsman and told her that I would not purchase the $9500 dollar laser from her, as I live 800 miles away, so her service plan was useless to me, but I would like to buy my laser supplies and participate in (pay for) more workshops/courses from Beautex. She said I was not welcome at anymore of her courses, because I might undercut/tell her other clients the Nd yag laser price. I told her I would never do that -- I don't sell Lasers, or beauty equipment for that matter. She obviously is not a trust worthy person.(in her mind she knows what she is capable of and expects that of others) She got angry at losing her big ND yag laser sale, and said, when my laser comes in call her if I need supplies and hung up abruptly. She was pissed, so I let her cool off until the end of January and called her back and left a message with her secretary about wanting a certificate of completion for the course (I paid for) for my Insurance company, as well to possibly order some supplies, if she was willing. Her secretary called me back and said I need to take(pay for) a few more" skype" courses( new news to me) to be issued a Certificate and Kim the owner would call me about it. I've been waiting for days now and she still hasn't called (I'm really shocked ha ha) Basically she is now sour Grapes and won't give me a certificate so be careful when dealing with Beautex.com Inc..ONLY TAKE KIm's Courses If you Plan to buy Her Equipment or she will screw you over on your certificate of completion which is usually needed to get Insurance in this country.

Since Then, I have located A lady who teaches a reputable Laser Tattoo removal at a college out west( Who does not sell Lasers!) and is willing train me on three different brands of Ndyag Lasers, as well as my own for 1500$. At the Beautex.com Inc. Laser tattoo removal course, Laser fluences were not even mentioned ! (which means Fly by night Probably)

Educational Institutions Must Set Standards

AUTHOR: Kim Hartsman - ()

POSTED: Friday, February 14, 2014

First let me say that I find it surprising that you do not wish to put your name to this complaint. This is for sure Pete of Thunder Bay. Why anonymously complain? If you truly feel that you are in the right then why not put your name to the complaint.  I know your identity. I am not alarmed by this posting because as anyone who does a Google search will see......you are the only complaint that is posted since we began our courses in 1988. We have a good reputation.

Thank You for the compliment. The fact that you would have taken more courses means that you felt satisfied with the education that you received. Please look at our website. Certificates are issued when proficiency is achieved.

Our courses are short programs. Our students are business owners and professionals in the industry. We are upgrading their skills. Proficiency can be achieved in a day or two for some more difficult skills by some people who are what we call "naturals".

Most commonly we find that with the more difficult skills like laser, electrolysis, waxing, facials etc. practicing and then performing a proficiency test is necessary. If the student does not have the equipment to practice then they may attend our class again free of charge to get the practicing they need in order to pass.

The offer for you to attend classes again and get better at the skill is always available. As you left I offered you free Skype training as part of your purchasing the machine. It is an option rather than attending again because of your distance. One on one training is time consuming and has to be paid for. I was willing to absorb the cost because you were buying a machine. If no machine is being purchased then I cannot afford to spend hours of time on the internet for free. You will have to pay for it. As you mentioned the lady out west who is going to train you is charging $1500. this is reasonable.

With respect to Fluence. It was discussed. It is in your notes because your notes include copied pages from The Milady Laser and Light Therapy standard manual used by schools. Again, this proves that 2 days in your case was not enough time for information and skills to be fully absorbed. Studying and practicing is necessary.

We have a great reputation. This is our 30th year of business. Our name goes on the walls of the people who have taken our courses. Insurance companies recognize our courses and give the necessary insurance coverage to our students based on the fact that they feel our courses are credible. We cannot give out certificates just because someone jumped on a plane and came to Toronto for two days. Any institution would say that attendance is not enough. You must show proficiency. Go practice, come back and show us that you know what you are doing without the assistance of the teacher. We talked about you coming back again and bringing your wife.

Pete, Samara, the lady with the permanent eyebrows came to the January class and told us that because you were so heavy handed she was in pain and could not sleep for 2 nights. She comes to our classes now but will no longer let students touch her. This is the feedback that we got when models returned. We cannot pass you until you hone your skill. You need practice before we can put our name on your wall.

As far as the machine goes. You are wrong. Many spas send their staff to take our courses and they buy no machines from us because they already have the equipment. We distinctly separate the two. We teach unbiased courses that enable the student to perform the skill using any machine of any brand. I just suggest that the students ask the person who sells the machine to them to review operational settings because all machines are different.

With respects to the source of manufacturering of the machine. You told me where my machine is made. I purchase it from an importer who purchases it from the United States. I don't want to import. Even if the machine is $2500. When you add shipping, duties, taxes, brokerage clearance fees it is more. Plus the importer has paid to have CSA approval and who they purchase it from in the USA has gotten FDA approval. They also have technicians who know how to repair these machines here in Toronto and in most cases it is free repair.

All of these factors give me a feeling of security and they have the right to pass on this cost to me and add some profit for themselves. I also have the right to add $2000 profit for myself because we provide  continued educational and marketing support with all of our equipment. This is separate support from our educational program. Our cost of providing this support is absorbed through the $2000 we make on a machine.

Sour grapes on my part. No. You did not pass; but in time with practice at your shop I am sure that  you would have met our standards to pass and we would have issued  you a certificate. We must maintain our standards.
