Company offers "free" sample product, just pay shipping of $4.95. Offer appeared on my Facebook page.Company charged my credit card for the $4.95, then charged $98,71 2 weeks later after I had notified them that the product didn't work and that I was not at all satisfied. When I contacted the company, they offerred a $49 refund, said the charge was on a autoshipped 2nd jar that I would receive in a few days. I told them I did not want another jar, I wanted the money put back on my card. After 40 minutes on the phone with customer service, the best they could offer was the $49 refund and another "trial period" for the 2nd jar. If I did not call back to cancel after the 2nd "trial period", they would send still another jar and charge me $29 instead of the $98.71. I told her NOT to send any more product and NOT charge my account for any further shipments. I wanted my full $98,71 refunded to my account. They said the $49 was the best they could offer and it would be put back on my card in 3-5 days. Over a week later the money had still not been refunded so I called them back. This time the representative was rude, said that the $98.71 was for the "free" trial jar and that no further product had been sent. When I told her what the first representative told me, she said that wasn't the way it worked. I asked for a supervisor and asked her to review the recording of the previous call. She claimed she already had although she came on the line immediately with no time to review the call. She said that was not the offer that was made but if I returned the "sample" jar (at my own expense) she would refund another $49. I told her I had not received the first refund offerred over a week ago and she said it hadn't been processed yet and that I could expect it in, you guessed it, 3-5 days. Checked the company with the BBB and they rated then "F".due to multiple compaints and false advertising. Here is their report:139 complaints closed with BBB in last 3 years | 66 closed in last 12 months Complaint Type Total Closed Complaints Advertising/Sales Issues 43 Billing/Collection Issues 40 Delivery Issues 4 Guarantee/Warranty Issues 1 Problems with Product/Service 51 Total Closed Complaints 139 Additional Complaint Information In June 2013, BBB began receiving consumer complaints filed against Beauty & Truth in regard to unauthorized billings and charges received after they chose to order a "free" sample, at a total cost of $3.95 or $4.95 for shipping. Consumer orders were placed from the business' website, http://www.findbeautyandtruth.com/webstore/default.aspx, or from offers on the company's Facebook page. BBB conducted an investigation on Beauty and Truth, determining that three to five weeks later, consumers who opted to try the "free" product began receiving charges in a variety of different amounts, ranging from $29.00 to over $80.00 per month on the CREDIT CARD they used to pay the shipping fees on the "free" order. Each consumer who contacted BBB or filed a BBB complaint, maintained that they were never informed and/or never chose to enroll in a monthly plan. It would appear that whatever "free" sample offer a person selected, they are subsequently charged the full price of the item the following month, and each month thereafter. On June 12, 2013 and June 26, 2013, BBB sent correspondence to Beauty and Truth, requesting that they provide an overview of their "free" sample offer and informing them that in the course of its investigation, BBB staff had reviewed their website, including the "free" offer, and found that there were no explanations regarding automatic enrollment in a monthly plan and no disclosure of the regular monthly fees that could be expected if one opted for the "free" sample. BBB received no response to its requests for more information about the "free" program, ongoing monthly fees and cancellation policies. In August 2013, Beauty and Truth stopped responding to consumer complaints forwarded to them by BBB. As of July 2014, Beauty and Truth has received more than 50 reportable consumer complaints in BBB's three year, standard reporting period. Of these, 18 complaints have gone without a response from the business, though BBB records include email read receipts for communications to the business regarding these complaints.
