Purchased two Toshiba laptops.  Best Buy salesperson explained there was a one year warranty.  Within a short time, we experienced difficulty connecting to wireless service.  Called Toshiba.  They blamed the Router system. I contacted my cable provider and had a technician come to diagnose the problem. There was not trouble with the communication service at my home. I then contacted the router company who took the time to troubleshoot the system. It was clear that the router was in perfect working order and that the problem was clearly the laptop.  I spent, days, weeks, months calling Toshiba to correct the problem with the laptop. They outsource their technical support to other countries. The contracted employees speak broken english and with each call they all use the same talking points and steps to "fix" the problem that the previous calls had resulted in. They could never "fix" the faulty operating system, Vista. They knew that and I knew that. Called Best Buy.  They assured we had until February 12,2010 to return product.  Gave us two reference #'s and assured us we could still return products.

Continued to attempt to isolate reason for inability to connect to service.  Paid an IT person to come to our home to identify product.  Individual identified computer, specifically, Microsoft Vista.  Day prior to warranty deadline, went to Best Buy to return computer.  Best Buy states problem is Operating system, microsoft, but would not call them or attempt to repair.   They advised us to buy two new operating system and they could install them for a fee.  That came to approx. $300.00 to repair two computers that never worked properly.  We refused. Told us to call microsoft ourself.  Called microsoft and they told us they could not help us.  Called Toshiba and again begged for assistance.  Gave us a website to access to download Windows 7.0 for free (must be aware there is a problem with Vista if they are offering "free" downloads).  Followed their instructions, then our computer did not qualify for upgrade.  End result...two computers that never performed properly and still do not .....out close to $1000.00 ....frustration of calling and working through the problem for one year......in addition, paid my cable provider for a wireless connection for one year that I could not receive, due to the inferior product that Toshiba and Microsoft would not back.
