Went to Best Buy Mobile on February 8th to cancel my newly acquired line with Verizon (within the 14 day "NO CANCELLATION FEE" warranty period, and transfer my number to a new AT&T line. In addition to this, I returned the phone I had with Verizon, and purchased a new phone with AT&T.
When the transaction was finished, the Best Buy Mobile sales representative handed me my new phone which said "NO SERVICE" on the screen - and he claimed that the phone would be activated within 15 minutes to 2 hours, that I should not worry. 2 hours passed by, and still no service. On the following day, STILL NO SERVICE.
I had to return on the following day to the Best Buy Mobile store at Dolphin Mall to find out why my phone was not working. After waiting about half an hour for the sales representative, I was finally told (what I would find out later) a bunch of lies. The guy who attended me said with much security that my Verizon line had already been cancelled and that my number had been transferred to AT&T. He said he did not know why it was taking so long for my new line to be activated, but that sometimes these processes took up to 24 hours. Once again, I was told not to worry, that everything would be OK, and that very soon my new line with AT&T should be in service. He advised me to call AT&T's customer service to try to push the activation. I spent over 4 hours on the line with AT&T later that day trying to find out why my new line was not yet activated, until I was finally told I DID NOT HAVE ANY SERVICE WITH THEM, AND THERE WAS NO RECORD for the transaction which supposedly took place at Best Buy Mobile at Dolphin Mall.
My next step was to call Verizon Wireless to see if I could get some kind of information. Within a few minutes I was told: "YOUR LINE WITH US IS STILL ACTIVE, THERE IS NO RECORD OF YOUR CANCELLATION." That was already on Sunday night, and it was too late to go to the store to dispute this.
In a few words, Best Buy Mobile completely failed to cancel and transfer my line from Verizon to AT&T, and much less did not activate any new line for me as they were supposed to do. I spent nearly 2 full days without phone service because of this, and now I am being charged a $350 early contract termination fee from Verizon for allegedly going past the 14 day warranty period (this would not have happened if Best Buy Mobile would have properly performed the service on the day I went to the store for the exchange). All this issue that was impossible for Best Buy Mobile at Dolphin Mall to resolve, was properly fixed in a matter of an hour by another representative at the Best Buy Mobile on Biscayne and 18th.
To top off all matters, I was sold a bad phone. The bluetooth is not working and there are many other functions not running properly. The phone constantly freezes. Now I have to go back to that store to exchange this phone and have them call Verizon Wireless to confirm that my line with Verizon WAS INDEED cancelled on February 8th, in order to avoid paying a $350 cancellation fee.
My advise to any consumer out there reading this, is to completely AVOID doing any business with Best Buy Mobile at Dolphin Mall. The service is disgusting, and they will be a complete waste of your time.
