On May 28, 2007 I went to Bill Heard Huntsville to try to look for a used truck. Had spoken to a salesman (James Kelly) the day before and told him what i was interested in. Set up an apointment for 2:00pm on monday the 28'th. I actually wound up going at 9 am monday.
He started showing me a few vehicles but every time I asked about a price he would say we would get to that later. I told him VERY plainly that I was only going to pay 250/month max payment. When I finally decided on a vehicle the first payment option he brought me was 360-380/month. When I got up to leave he said wait a minute and let me try again. Two minutes later he walked up to me, shook my hand and told me I had just bought a new truck.

The price he charged for the truck was 14k plus. When I was in the finance office they kept trying to make me take extended warranty's and road side assistance plans that were "hard built" into the sales contracts. They told me they could NOT take them out. Once again I got up to leave and they suddenly decided to just give them to me by dropping the price of the truck.

When it was all said and done I was told i was going to have payments of 250/month and change. As this was a holdiday finance company's were not open so they told me I would have to come back to sign the final papers. I told them I would not and that they would have to come to me. (approx. 40 miles away)

When I got home a quick internet search showed the price listed by this dealer on the vehicle i bought to be 10,900.00 They jacked me up on the price. Which while it was extreme I should of been more prepared when I went to the dealership. I sent them a letter telling them i was displeased with the price difference.

On Wednesday James Kelley called and told me that he needed me to come to huntsville and sign papers. I told him that he could bring them to me. He said he would get with his sales manager and call me back later in the day to let me know what time he would be arriving. Never heard from him again the rest of the day.

On Friday he called me once again to tell me that I needed to come to huntsville to sign the papers. Once again I told him that I would not come there that he would have to come to me. He wound up aggeeing to meet me at 4:30pm at a local gas station to sing the papers.
At 4:50pm I called him. He still had not left huntsville. Said he would be leaving in about 20 minutes. I asked what time he would be arriving in Scottsboro and he said approximately 6:30. At 6:20pm a fincance representative called me to tell me he had "great new's for me!" Since i was unhappy with the price they dropped it to 10,400 for me. (this difference covered the road side assistance plan i refused to take and that was all that they discounted.) When I asked about my payments they told me they were saving me so much on intrest and lah de dah....The payments went up to 289/m.

I told them NO. The finance guy proceeds to start tellin me how he's tryin so hard to help me reubild my creding and that I have to work with them on the payment. I told him I didn't come there for credit help I came for a vehicle and that I had told them all i was going to pay was 250/m.

I asked if they had my tradein vehicle and he said yes. I told him to have it, my title, and my down payment ready in an hour. He said they would have it. I drove the 45 minutes to the dealership. Had to sit through a 15 minute meeting with the sales manager telling me what a great deal I was passing up and how hard they were working to try and help me with my credit. And how with my attitued he wasn't sure how they could salvage the deal. I told him he couldn't and he simply got up and left the room.

James Kelly (salesman) told me that they had my vehicle but I couldn't get my title back or my down payment back till monday because the business office was closed. So I had to take time off work, drive there again and was only able to get my downpayment because they had "lost" my paperwork that contained my title. They told me it wasn't my fault though. (wasn't that nice of them) James Kelly told me he would look for it if he had time and mail it when he got a chance. When I told him I needed it the next day to close on a deal with another dealership he said I could need it all I wanted but that wasn't going to get it to me any quicker and he would take care of it when he had "time".

A week later still no title and when I called the dealership and spoke to a manager I was told that while all my loan application papers had been shredded my title to my trade in vehicle mysteriously had vanished and that they had filed for a lost title on my behalf and I would recieve it in approximately 6-8 wks.
So now I am out time, money, and have to wait 2 months to trade my vehicle in. DO NOT USE THIS DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON!!!

Update

AUTHOR: Scott - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 20, 2008

After seeing Mr. Kelly's response i felt I should add one last thing... the state of Alabama never recieved a request for a replacemnt title on my behalf from Bill Heard in Huntsville. After about 10 weeks of waiting I attempted to contact the dealership several times about my title and never made any headway. Had to eventually send off for it myself. As to his claims about my temper and language.... I think i was fully justified in calling the people there idiots, asking what kind of crackerjack circus they were running, and telling him he was full of BS when he told me he "lost" my title.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Not the WHOLE Truth!

AUTHOR: James Kelley, Sr. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 19, 2008

As I read the statements made by Scott, I can recall the interactions between he and I during this time. I would totally agree that he appeared to be very unhappy with the flow of the transaction. However, it is not the sales force who decides whether or not to extend credit to customers; that decision belongs to the lending institutions. The lending institutions always decide who is or isn't credit worthy. They also decide the APR on any and all approvals.

I think that Scott failed to realize that the sales person can only present the numbers that are provided to him or her. I never told Scott anything that I knew to be false. I worked very hard to gather all of the necessary information on his deal so as to obtain a favorable approval. My job was done thoroughly.

Although Scott often used very offensive language which I will not repeat here, I was never rude or unprofessional towards him. In fact, I did all that I could do (considering my position) at the time. I can understand his frustration due to the inconveniences he was forced to incur. I can also understand his desire to tell others about his experience; however, I will never understand the reason that he was not truthful about the way he was treated by his sales person (James Kelley).

Scott appeared to be a pleasant person as long as he maintained control of his temper. I wish him well.

It depends on how many people are ahead of you. [Six lines, not much waiting,...]
'By mail' title delivery is cheaper & takes 4 weeks.

Unless you want to get screwed again, STOP being a "Payment Buyer". If you continue to think in terms of the 'monthly payment', you WILL get the shaft again. I garantee it.
