Nonprofit BizParentz Foundation http://www.bizparentz.org doesn't practice what it preaches. A lot of us who trusted them are MAD AS HELL! Turns out they are hypocrites.

This group, which solicits money purporting to work on behalf of young actors and their families, doesn't like to tell you it endorsed and participated in an expensive Young Hollywood Cruise last June to the Caribbean that seemed to be EXACTLY what BizParentz preaches against. See for yourself at http://www.pr.com/press-release/65784.

The cruise touted itself as an opportunity for young actors and their families looking to break into the entertainment industry. One of the big names touted as a top Disney casting director turns out to be a casting associate who didn't even work for Disney. This also suggests someone at Disney was endorsing this, which they weren't. In fact, this is EXACTLY what BizParentz criticizes others for.

How much would it have cost a parent to go on the BizParentz-endorsed cruise? Do the math.

Start with Prices begin at $999 per person (based on double occupancy). Then figure that no kid would go alone, so add one parent and you are at 2 Grand. Then add Dad and you are at 3 Grand, siblings and you are at 4, 5 or 6 Grand just for the cruise alone.

That's just for the cheapest, lowest grade interior cabin. More comfortable cabins can cost much as $1,999 per person. And, NONE OF THIS included the family air fare to Miami, souvenirs and lots of other miscellaneous expenses. So any family looking to break into the industry would have found itself out thousands and thousands of dollars.

So at the end of the day, we are talking $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for a 7-day event for young actors looking to break into the industry that BizParentz was fine with endorsing and participating in.

We'd love to know how much BizParentz was paid for this, where the money went and any freebies it accepted. When did BizParentz put its integrity up for sale? Isn't BizParentz nonprofit? Those of us who have trusted BizParents in the past have a right to know.

Do NOT donate money to BizParentz-they're a FRAUD!

AUTHOR: Melody - (USA)

BizParentz is being sued all over the place. If you're thinking of donating money, don't.

Anne, the founder is a complete wacko. She nothing but a frustrated stage mom who's angry because her kids never were successful pursuing this.

She needs to get a life!

Don't pay them anything, consider your donation GONE!

BizParentz Responds

AUTHOR: Bizparentz Foundation - (U.S.A.)

We are the co-founders of BizParentz Foundation. Please allow us to set the record straight:

The "Young Hollywood Cruise" aka The New WAVE was announced via the press release in 2007. We encourage you to read the actual press release. The characterization of the cruise event "missing" from the Ripoffreport is:

"The New WAVE is unlike any other event for young actors looking to break into the industry, said Susan Bernhardt, In Media Group and co-host of the cruise. Unlike other events that focus on competition, The New WAVE will be an educational event for the entire family. "

BizParentz was asked to provide the same parent workshops we always provide for free in conjunction with the educational aspects of the cruise. The request came from the organizer, a friend of many years, long time s****. />

BizParentz does not accept personal compensation for workshops. We are volunteers, receiving no salary and no compensation whatsoever. There was no compensation to BizParentz, as an organization or to us as individuals, related to the cruise. BizParentz did announce our involvement in the cruise via our newsletter. The proposed event was not a secret.

Special interest cruises are not unusual. Doctors, teachers, scientists and salespeople all gather for legitimate conferences aboard cruise ships because it is cost effective. The cruise was a unique opportunity to put more emphasis on REAL educational information about the business, instead of telling parents, new and old, wrong information to get them to pay more money. The cruise was a family vacation event, which was also an appealing factor to us in deciding to participate. While BizParentz had no responsibility for the plans of the organizers, there were many modifications made to the event after the initial press release announcement, including participants.

However, for various reasons, the cruise did not take place. BizParentz was paid nothing, and was going to be paid nothing. BizParentz' integrity was not for sale and not sold.

BizParentz is a 501c3 non-profit organization. As such, the organization could certainly receive appearance fees and the BizParentz co-founders could receive a salary if we so desired. This family oriented, educational event was appropriate to the mission of our organization, even if it had happened.

If the above poster was a client, volunteer or member of BizParentz, or had simply bothered to ask a question, they would have known that the event never took place and that BizParentz did not receive any compensation at all. The press release is dated December 2007, but the anonymous poster waited until 2009 to get "mad as hell"? The poster could not have been "ripped off" (no money changed hands in any direction), and they are a little late in their "outrage".

Which begs the question: Why would this unidentified poster bring this up now? And why would this same unidentified poster go to Backstage.com for the first time, and repost it on a message board thread about ACT (Academy of Cinema and Television, www.theact.tv) and "THE"?

The answer is simple: This was posted at the same time that one of the companies that is frequently discussed on ripoffreport.com is coming under scrutiny in several network news shows around the country. We are told that the business even felt the need to hire a public relations firm specializing in "crisis management". Could this post be an effort at retaliation for our consumer protection efforts? Could it be designed to discredit our organization?

Those individuals really familiar with our work would know we provide truthful information and experienced opinions about many predators in our industry. As a result, we have enemies - be they predators of children or predators of parents' money. The Ripoffreport site houses multiple, lengthy complaints about many of the businesses entities who we, as well as other consumer protection entities, believe are, at least, financial predators. This report, digging up an old press release about an event that didn't happen, appears to be retaliatory in nature, and could be considered a form of defamation against BizParentz.

We are proud to be advocates for consumers in the entertainment industry. Our reputation speaks for itself. If you would like to read what we advise in regard to avoiding talent scams, please read this article on our five year old website, an article that has been there for years:

http://www.bizparentz.org/gettingstarted/avoidingscams.html

We also have many FREE articles on our website that will help families get started in the legitimate industry without spending a fortune.

We encourage anyone who may have any comments or questions about the cruise proposed in 2007 which did not happen, or any of our activities, to contact us via our free website at www.bizparentz.org.
