The blount county jail now requires inmates to buy their meds per individual pill, regardless if your meds from home are there, and that is if you are lucky enough to get them. my cousin was denied his REQUIRED cardiac meds which resulted in him having a pacemaker placed at age 40. if you call the jail, the inmate gets punished. in January 2012, they granted my cousin a medical furlough because they admitted not giving him his meds which resulted in the pacemaker and stents due to me advising them I would go to the media AND his cardiologist! confirming they were the reason for the issues he was facing. in 8-12-12, a blount county officer goes into his home WITHOUT an arrest warrant AND without permission and arrested him AFTER telling his spouse he was going to come back and whoop him. they were originally called to the area due to him being shot at my a felon owning firearms, which that is illegal. they didn't go to the home where the shots were fired because he is good friends with the high and mighty sheriff Jim berrong.

since being in jail on 8-12-12, he has been denied his meds, taken to bmh against his will because they refused to take him to UT where his doctors are. he was placed in general population the same day he was discharged from bmh and still having trouble breathing, and the other inmate hits him without repercussions. he was placed back in medical at the jail, but has been cursed and yelled at by ALL the staff due to his wife calling about the treatment he was receiving. he is NOT the only inmate that is being done like this.
