Our overall experience with Blu Dragon Cane Corsos was an unpleasant one. Nine months after receiving our puppy from the breeder we noticed significant limping after moderate exercise. We had hoped that it was just growing pains, but after seeing our regular vet, getting x-rays, and a radiology report, it was determined that our Cane Corso puppy has hip dysplasia in both hips with arthritis already setting in.

After a normal day of just being a puppy she is in pain for the entire evening. We then scheduled an appointment with a hip specialist at VSEC in Philadelphia. After our meeting the Orthopedic surgeon he determined she needed a full hip replacement at the cost of $6500.00.

We informed Blu Dragon Cane Corsos of our situation and that the puppy they sold us had hip dysplasia in both hips, right worse than the left. We sent Blu Dragon x-rays and the radiology report of our puppies hips. After they received them, they informed us that it could be growing pains and give her time to grow? Their health guarantee is only 48 hours, which would not give a potential buyer any time at all to discover genetic abnormalities.

The option they gave us was to trade our dog in that we have grown to love and became part of our family the past year for a new puppy. Hip dysplasia is a genetic disorder and they are still breeding the parents of our dog. We just don't want to see anyone else end up with the heartache we have experienced.

We purchased our puppy from Linda and Dom after extensive research of breeders across the country. We visited the breeders at their home.We met our pups parents and siblings and we're instantly pleased by the environment and cafe their dogs were raised. We reviewed the contract and were thoroughly explained that although their dogs are breed with full awareness of hip problems that nature doesn't guarantee there won't be issues...especially in a big breed which if someone did their research would know. Our dog just turn two years old, had his minor growing pains which every large breed does...did we panic? No we called Linda and Dom and further educated us which was also confirmed by a licensed vet, we didn't overreact calling for a $6200 settlement and low and behold our pup is an unbelievable smart,, amazing dog.we love the attention he gets and are VERY happy in the looks and questions we get from strangers.Bludragoncanecorso has been there for us since the day we set eyes on that cute adorable pup till now.Linda and Dom have been very supportive not only as a breeder but as new found friends.Their support and advise through almost two years has been nothing but extraordinary.I Would and have recommended BLUDRAGONCANECORSO to anyone looking for an exceptional dog.The care they give to their dogs from puppies to adulthood is world class.we would Deffently encourage anyone in the Pa area,or should say from around the country and beyond to do your research and you wool find Linda and Dom are worldclass , helpful, informative and just all around great people and Cane Corso breeders.thanks for reading my post and please take into consideration all the happy owners from this breeder over a money hungry one who should read the contract

Severe Hip Dysplasia Claim-Unfounded

AUTHOR: Blu Dragon Cane Corsos - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 16, 2014

We received an e-mail around Christmas time 2012, from Mr. Brunner asking if we had any pups available and if we could send pictures. We did have pups and we sent pictures. Mr. Brunner responded by e-mail, asking for a price. We called and spoke with him directly. He let us know how happy he was with the female Cane Corso pup he had purchased in August of 2012, stating that she was beautiful, her temperament was phenomial and was inquiring for another puppy. We gave him a price, but we could tell that he was not satisfied with it. We explained that we are small breeders, and we gave him a break on the first puppy and he would be getting a break on the second pup as well.  He left off, that he would speak to his wife and get back to us. We never heard back from him in reference to another puppy.

On May 20th,2013- we received an e-mail informing us, that the puppy he had purchased in August 2012, had been diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and arthritus in both hips, requiring a complete hip replacement. He said that the dog had been suffering for months and that her quality of life had deteriorated dramatically. He took her to his vet and then to a speciallist. The cost would be $6500.00-$6800.00 for a hip replacement.

We were devastated. We cried. Just the thought, that one of our babies being diagnosed with such a major complication, our hearts were broken. We immediately called Mr. Brunner and let him know how devastated we were to hear of this.

He wanted to know, what we would be willing to do for him, and would we be willing to stand behind our product. He stated again, what the surgery would cost, we explained that as per our contract, no money for surgery would exchange hands. We explained that the dog being only 11 months old, had much more growing to do, and asked that he allow her the time to finish growing. It is not uncommon for Cane Corsos' to go through periods of limping while they go thru growth spurts. We told him that we would give him another puppy as soon as one was available as per our contract. We needed a written diagnosis from his vet, stating the severity of the diagnosis and copies of the xrays for our vet to look over. He then asked if we would go half with him for surgery and again we explained that no money would exchange hands. He then remarked that any money we could give would help. He suggested that we should re-imburse him for his dog stating that we did not give him a healthy puppy the first time, which could not be further from the truth. We again reminded him of our contract and left off with him to send us the vet reports. We also asked if it was possible for him to bring his dog to us, for us to see her, or even skype, or a video of her, something we could see her-but he had chosen not to do so.

We recieved an email with a report from a lab stating that the dog had a mild to moderate diagnosis. We never recieved a written report from the veterinarian who saw the puppy, but we called him anyway, as his name was on the lab report. He was very helpful, said he saw the dog- she was limping- but felt possible growing pains, and took xrays anyway. Mr. Brunner insisted on a specialist- to which he was referred. We asked "his" vet, if he agreed with a complete hip replacement diagnosis and he did not. In fact, he stated that "he has two retrievers that both have mild to moderate hip dysplasia, and they live very normal lives. Surgery is out of the question and not an option for him. He explained that there are many remedies that do not require surgery, for mild to moderate hip dysplasia and the dogs live completely normal lives." As a result of the lab report and speaking to Mr. Brunner's vet, we have concluded that the diagnosis was not a severe crippling hip dysplasia diagnosis as Mr. Brunner had stated.

After speaking with the vet, we let Mr. Brunner know how relieved we were, to hear that his dog, DID NOT, have a severe crippling hip dysplasia diagnosis. This made us relieved, because we thought the only other alternative for a severe crippling diagnosis, would have been to put her down. That- would have ripped our hearts out! We told Mr.Brunner, if down the road, his dog was given a severe hip displasia diagnosis, to please contact us. As of this date, we have not heard from Mr. Brunner.

To date, none of our adult dogs have ever showed any signs of hip dysplasia what so ever, nor have we have ever had a puppy come back to us for any reason at all. Unfortunately, Cane Corsos' are a large breed dog and are prone to hip dysplasia.

In the end, we wish for Mr. Brunner's dog to be healthy, and live a normal happy life.  Today I just happened to search Mr. Brunner's business. I came across his Twitter page and there in the picture was his dog-at his place of business-the very dog we sold him- we would know her anywhere-she looks outstanding! She's a beautiful Blue Cane Corso. We couldn't be happier to see a picture of her. Though we would have never known, because Mr. Brunner has not stayed in touch with us from the beginning.Instead of dealing with us like adults, Mr. Brunner has chosen to contact us via e-mail, rather than a phone call, attack us on the internet, attack our videos, attack our integrity and good name. This is something Mr. Brunner knows about all too well, since he himself had his own business attacked on the internet. While he was at our home, one of the questions he asked us, "Have you ever been attacked on the internet before?" We said "No, Why?" Explaining that he and his business indeed had- Ironically, it sounds like he had a plan all along! Our testimonial page is a direct result of his attack.

Our intention, whenever we produce a puppy, is for that puppy to be healthy, loved and have a wonderful life. Also to give someone the very best friend and family member they could ever have, create a lifetime of wonderful memories, and of course, be loved unconditionally. If you are fortunate to have a Cane Corso in your life, then you know, it is one of the most rewarding treasures you will ever have in your lifetime. We pride ourselves by the love and care we provide our pups from the moment they enter this world and the outstanding temperaments they develop as a result of our efforts. This can clearly be seen on the slideshows on our website. We are so very blessed to have made many friendships along the way, and will continue to do so. While we have been deeply saddened by this attack on us, we will not hide who we are, and are extremely proud of the dogs we produce and the breeders we are.
