My boyfriend finally decided to buy a 383 stroker motor from BluePrint Engines, mainly because of the price and they seemed to have a decent warranty. Now I said seemed, as I once read, "In the end, a warranty has no value if they will not honor it." That is exactly what is happening. Basically to make a long story short. The motor ran all of 2 months before there was a misfire and the car stalled out in the middle of traffic.

Now my boyfriend being a Master ASE certified technician and Mercedes Master Guild Technician knew this was all bad. After getting her home he did a compression test, cylinder leak down test, and just turning over the motor with all the plugs removed, he had a number one cylinder straight pumping out water from the plug hole.  He closed the hood in disgust and walked away for about a week..

Then he called and started warranty claim going.. they re tech, Ken, at BluePrint Engines gave him authorization to pull the heads and inspect..  number one cylinder was cracked in 2 spots from the middle down to the bottom.. and big cracks also...  he was told to remove engine and ship back at the builders expense. He really didn't want to do this but I told him that he was being silly because he already knew that it was not his fault that this had happened so of course they are going to cover it under warranty.

Boy was I wrong! They are trying to blame it on detonation! Im sure thats just about what they say to all of there warranty claims.

Ken told my boyfriend that the timing was off causing detonation.(of course making it my boyfriends fault, making them not reliable) my boyfriend says how is this? 1 the heat caused by detonation is not going to crack a cylinder unless it was for about an hour of hard driving with that detonation issue.  2 if anything the piston in that cylinder, piston being aluminum and the block being iron, is going to melt and go away first. blah blah blah..  so arguing with him, pleasantly discussing with him i should say, didn't get mad or raise voice one time, told him to get a price on "freshening up" the motor.  He said he would call the very next day, well 7 days later. he had to call them and got a different person, told him he was displeased as of now.. he said he would receive a call tomorrow am..  Next day no call, waited about 3-4 days and called again, warranty lady, Michelle said she didn't have a cost yet.. he informed her he was told 2 weeks ago that he would have a cost to "freshen up" the old motor. All of a sudden she says $1250! plus the 150 for shipping and handling.

WOW!!! All I can say is that my boyfriend knows exactly what he is doing and if it was his fault he would have no problem paying for it, BUT IT WASN'T HIS FAULT. BLUEPRINT ENGINES is the worst company to deal with and will not honor there warranty. Now they have the motor that he spent about $4000 on in pieces and to get it back they want $1400 or we can pay to have them ship the cracked block back to us. Either way we are screwed. Thank you BLUEPRINT ENGINES for screwing my boyfriend over. It has been a real pleasure, Not Really!!!
