There was an advertisement on tv called "takeoverpayments.com" I went to the web site because I'd been having multiple problems with my current car. Takeoverpayments.com advertised that you could get all of these newer, fancy cars, at extremely low payments.

I didn't see any harm in going to the web site to check it out. Apparently, my information was sent to whatever dealers were affiliated with this web site. Shortly after, I got a call from Bob Watson Chevy.

I went into the dealer to see if there was anything I'd find appealing. I didn't find anything on my first two visits. Lorraine, one of several sales associates who was assisting me, asked me what kind of cars I'd be interested in. I told her and she said that she would look out for them.

Lorraine called me and suggested that I come back to the dealership because they had some new vehicles that I might like.

I went back to the dealership on June 5, 2004. The problem I was facing was that the vehicle that I was using to trade in was not paid off and I owed more on it then it was worth. I was fully aware of this before going to dealership.

Another sales associate (Derrick Howard)decided to assist me because Lorraine was busy with other people. My trade in vehicle was a 1997 Lincoln Mark Viii. The blue book price for that car was around $7,000 or $8,000. I owed a little over $12,000. The dealer gave me $7,000 for it. Thats not the problem.

I saw a 2002 Jeep Liberty that seemed to be something I might be interested in. After test driving it, I thought it was ok but I wasn't in love with so to speak. I wasn't sure that I wanted to go from a luxury car to a SUV.

The head sales associate (unfortunately, I don't remember his name) sat down with me and started throwing out car payment numbers. I told him that I wanted my payment below $400.00. I told him that I have school loan payments starting soon and don't want to get in over my head.

So now, he lowers the payments by $15.00. Once again I reminded him of my situation. He eventually lowers my payment to $383.00. I told him that I need to think about it. The more I appeared undecided, the more pissed he was getting. He told me that he did not like being used and that he wouldn't be making much money on this deal. He also said that if I walk out, the deal would be null and void.

I told him that I am not using him and that I wanted to think about it. I also told him that I was fully aware that his deal would be no good if I left. There were red flags going up in my head and I decided to leave. I walked outside to look at the Jeep one last time and then proceeded to walk to my car.

At that time, another sales associate (Sam), whom I had not been dealing with, came running after me, calling my name. I stopped to see what he wanted. He started giving me this sympathetic bull about how he'd like to help, and he can get my carpayment to where I want because he knows stuff that the other associates don't.

Sam also told me that I can bring the car back next year and that I can refinance it and lower my payment by $100.00. For some reason, I believed his lies and went back into the building. He also said that he used to have a Mark Viii and he had all kinds of problems with it too.

I decided to take the truck. Lorraine, Derrick, and Sam all said that I can refinance the car next year. All three also said that the Jeep had a 7yr/75,000 mi warranty still left on it. Since the vehicle was a 2002, I still had 5 yrs left. I was also promised a full tank of gas by the sales rep that accused me of using him.

Once I got into the finance office to sign the final papers, everthing I was told was a lie. The finance man told me that only the 2003 and newer jeeps had the 7yr/75,000 mi warranty and that my jeep only had the 3yr/36,000 mi warranty. Unfortunately, my jeep had 39,000 miles on it so there was no warranty on it. I was very upset and said that that is not what 3 of your sales people said.

I told him that it didn't make sense to trade in a car with a warranty that I paid for and still had two years remaing, for a vehicle with no warranty. I told him I don't fel right about this deal. The finance manager walked out of the office for a few minutes and then returned telling me that he can give me a $1,500 extended warranty for $1,200. I told that I will not pay for something that was promised in the first place.

He once again, left the office. He returned and said this time, he would give me a 3yr/36,000 mi warranty at no cost. Ok, so now I felt a little better. Of course, he proceeds to tell me that I have to bring the vehicle back to Bob Watsons only for repairs. I have a Jeep. I prefer to go to a jeep dealer.

I then tried to verify with him that the 3 sales associates said that I can refinance my car after a year. he said that was not true. His dealership doesn't do that. At this point, I could kick myself for not walking out.

I put some money down along with my car. I used my ATM card along with my American Express card at their cashiers office. Recently, American Express sent me an e-mail confirming my request for a replacement card. I did not request a replacement card. In fact, I've had my card since 1990 and have never requested another card. I immediately, canceled my card and have been issued a new one.

I have also been told by my american express card that two charges were made this past week which I did not make. The last transaction I made was at Bob Watsons dealership. I have also canceled my ATM card in fear that someone may try to use that too. I have no concrete proof that someone at the dealership is engaging in ID Theft but, I have never had a problem before.

I realize that buyers must protect themselves and inform themselves before making big purchases but that doesn't make it alright for sales people to deliberately skrew people. The dealership charged me $23,198.16 (plus an additional $4,420.32 in interest) for a vehicle that the blue book claims to only be worth $13,800. I could have bought a 2004 Jeep for less than what they charged me. I knew there was the upside down amount from my previous loan. But right now, I'm $10,000 upside down.

I had to go back to the dealer because I needed the wheel lock for my spare tire. Sam asked me how I like the truck and I said it was ok. I didn't look too happy and Sam blew that off. I happen to ask "so, did my car sell?" He said "Oh yeah, it's gone!" As I left the dealership, I saw my car sitting in the back lot.

I've only had the truck for a week and I had to pay to get a second set of keys made up. I also took it in to get an oil change and it was brought to my attention that I had two nails in my tires. One in the front and one in the back. The one in the front was patched, the other requires that I buy a new tire because that nail was in the side of the tire. I am also noticing a strange noise when I shift from park to reverse.

Needless to say, I'm very unhappy. I'm upset that I was lied to too many times. I did not set out to buy a Jeep. It was just there at their lot and I thought it was cute. If I had known that I was going to be paying more for it than a new one, I would have never bought it. I traded in a car that was beautiful and wanted by many. If I could go back in time.....

To top it al off, they never filled the tank up with gas like they promised. So now, I'm stuck with an over priced vehicle that really doesn't have a warranty on it because I do not wish to return to this dealership. I have recently, heard from other people how they have gotten a bad deal from this same dealership. I have also reported then to the better business bureau.

If you can suggest other things for me to do pertaing to this situation, I'd really appreciate it. If not for me, then for all of the other people this dealership and other dealerships, are taking advantage of. People always tell me to take a man with me when I want to buy a car. Why should I have to do that just because I'm a woman. I should be able to go to any business and be treated respectfully and not as another scam victim.
