First off all I am a very busy person I work a minimum of 50 hours a week so whatever time I have left to spend I take very seriously. My wife had saw an advertisment for "The Pick the Payment Network," It goes along with that ol' sayin if it sounds too good to be true, it's totally not true. You see I fall into that bracket of not bad credit, but no credit I'm in my early 30's, and also had a good income so I have always bought what ever I wanted out-right.

Well I get notified by Julie and Ralph from Bob Watson Chevrolet in Harvey, Illinois, about an hour drive away. They get all my information, and tell me I won't need a co-signer or even a down payment. I tell my wife there is no way this is a real deal, and it sounds like a scam. Well she calls and talks to Ralph he say's I'm approved with TWO lenders, all I have to do is come in and pick my ride.

Well we take time out today to go. My first impression walking thru the door was it look like a third rate car dealership. People lined up everwhere, and car salespersons that look like they just got paroled. Well we say were there for an appointment with Julie and or Ralph. A saleslady named Caroll say's she'll take us, that Julie is just an appointment sitter. Well she leaves us at her desk for around 15 minutes, then returns with I assume a manager since he did'nt introduce himself. Well he say's " I had you approved but the bank went outta business."

So I was like speachless that had to be the worst lie I'd ever heard roll out of a persons mouth. Then he say's I'll need a co-signer just for the first 18 months, then the'll drop them off. A co-signer after being told just come in and sign. Thanks for wasting my time. You are have to be THE WORST CAR DEALERSHIP I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF SITTING FOOT IN.

Sounds like you walked out when they started spouting the BS. That was the right move.

At least you didn't lose any money, just time and aggravation.

You could have had some fun with this one. Ask him, "Oh, what bank was that? Funny, I didn't hear about that in the news." You know, see how fast he could tap dance.

I've bought four new cars in my time, though the last one was sixteen years ago. I never had to endure the flimflammery I read about here. Was I just lucky, or have dealerships gotten more rotten over the years?

There was one example of underhandedness. I bought an '81 Datsun 200SX new. I had a deal with a friend who worked at a tire shop to swap the tires for a different type. The Datsun came standard with (as I remember) Goodrich tires. Mine had three Goodrich tires ane one Toyo. The dealership made it right, but if it hadn't been for the swap deal, I wouldn't have known the difference, at least not for a lot longer. Who checks the tires on a new car? Now I know you should.
