Bowman Heintz Boscia & Vician Professional Corp. Uncaring and ruthless Merriville, Indiana

In December I received a court notice from Bowman Heintz for a debt from Capitol One (which I believe had already been paid I just couldn't prove it).  They also sent a document to my place of employment to garnish my wages.  Before the court date to garnish my wages I contacted Bowman Heintz and set up payment arrangements for this debt ( I didn't want the garnishment on my record).  They had also sent a letter to my bank to have my account frozen.  Luckily when the letter was sent to my bank my account was a very small amount.  I was scared because my check and my husband's check was deposited electronically and we had bills that had to be paid.  I called my bank and they stated that I was lucky that the letter came through when it did because if it would have been a day later my account would have been substantially more and they would have gotten all of it.  First of all, I think it is wrong that someone could freeze your bank account and prevent you from paying bills and send out a garnishment letter to your place of employment to have your wages garnished at the same time because at my place of employment they start the garnishment as soon as they receive the letter.  This is even before the garnishment is granted.  Anyway, I called and set up payment arrangements for this debt.  I was told that as soon as I made my first payment they would cancel the court date for the garnishment.  I made the first payment and the hearing was cancelled. I was also told that they would contact my employer and let them know that I as paying the debt and the garnishment was canceled.  They never contacted my employer!! So, I was essentially paying double!  I talked with someone in my payroll department and they stated that they were holding the entire amount of the debt and they were waiting for word from Bowman Heintz on what was going on with this suit.  I talked with someone at Bowman Heintz hoping that I could get these funds released because I am ready to make the final payment of 185.00 and my husband had recently been laid off and I could really use this money for bills.  I was told that as soon as I made the final payment they would fax a paper to the payroll department and let them know that the debt had been satisfied.  I asked them if I could pay over the phone and I was told that if I did that they would not send this letter to release the funds for 30 days which by the way was over 1400.00!!  I then asked if I gave them a debit card number would that make the process go any faster.  Again, I was told it would be 30 days!!  They told me that unless I sent the money certified funds they would have to hold the letter for 30 days.  This company is ruthless and unreasonable!!  I wish someone would put a stop to this kind of bullying to consumers!!  In this economy people don't need this kind of stress in their lives they have enough going on without worrying about this kind of harassment!  It is really too bad someone can't stop these people!!!
