Please be advised that the operators of the Brakes Plus location in Fort Collins, Co are ridiculously shady. This is your sterotypical situation you hear about in investigative reports where someone goes under cover to expose fraudulent business practices, and let me tell you, that is exactly what is happening here.

First off, they advertise specials they have no intention of honoring. When you do take your car in for the advertsied special, suddenly a ton of other work that "needs to be done first" magically appears and when you call them on it, they will bs their way out of honoring what you came there for.

There was a young man in the waiting room today when I arriveed who went in for a basic service and ended up paying over $600 for service he had no expectation of paying. One could argue he had service needs that needed to be met first, sure. While that may be true, consider this.

In my case, I usually have my car dealership and a private mechanic service my car and had just days ago had the dealership fully inspect my vehicle with a full print out, etc. I am explicitly clear on the status of my car. I decided to try this local shop because they were running a special and all I needed was a simple service. Magically I was presented with an incredible $1600+ worth of complete bs by a salesman who apparently takes women for complete and utter fools. When I told him how ridiculous that was, he ran to his manager, and did this on more than two occassions. Suddenly, the $1600 got cut in half and lucky me. I was only to be out $800 in service.

I called them out on it and said to simply do what I had come for. The salesman replied that my rotars were too damaged, sorry. I know this to be a complete lie because as I said, I have had two other professional sets on eyes on my car within  the past week and a half alone, and am a well informed consumer, which is why they lied their way out of helping me. The same salesman even tried to pull a similar stunt on an older man in the waiting room whom I had been speaking to. I gave him the heads up to watch for the ridiculous scope creep but luckily he was a mechanic himself and said he would be able to spot a lie depending on what they told him. You can imagine the laugh the older man got when the salesman spoke to him like a fool.

This shop should not oly be avoided, it should be investigated. They clearly have a system in place to knowingly false advertise, decieve and scam their customers. I am willing to pay a professional who is a straight-shooter but when someone tried to baffle me with b@llsh#t, then I feel the need to warn others. Especially women who will definitely be targeted as I was. They think you are easy prey. Beware of their dishonest, bait and switch advertising and lack of transparancy. They try and tack on extras as if they are necessities. Don't fall for it.

And if by chance the shop itself reads this...good. You made your bed, now lie in it. I am not the least big sorry letting other people know to avoid you like the plague.

Have had my work truck in to them four times, sadly it sounds the same it did the first time I brought it in, I spent over 800 bucks and I still have brake issues, finally the fourth time today they told my I need more repairs which they wanted more money, wondering why they don't just man up and fix it, these people are a scam and I would never ever trust them again,  one of the things they told me is my truck is to heavy, yeah well I have seven other work trucks which have no brake problems, so dumb, I think the BBB should give these guys a f rating. I am not sure what to do now except give them as many bad reviews as possible to try and save other people from being screwed. And ideas ?
