I'd worked for Herbalife for more than 10 months to glowing reviews from everyone I worked with. Then, a grossly unqualified and incompetent "manager" started. She could not organize, lead, strategize, conceptualize, or spearhead the projects she was supposed to. Everything was quite the mess constantly, despite others offering to lend their project management expertise, etc.

One week she demanded that I work overtime but stated she would not approve overtime pay. I was also forced to falsify my timesheet by this individual. Given the grim economy but knowing this was illegal (having had experience at another company doing this), I did the work. However, another individual with a different manager working on some of the same work was paid overtime multiple times.

Within a week of bringing this to the attention of the HR department contact (Hazel Tiefen) and asking for the company's position on overtime to be clarified because of this discrepancy between two workers, I was let go for no specific reason. I was told vaguely that there were "issues with the group," yet just a couple days before I was still receiving rave reviews for my work, including from very higher-ups.

Both Brandi Caskey and Hazel Tiefen are knowingly violating California state labor laws and, when caught, disposing of the witness.

Beware working or applying for Herbalife, with their very undermarket wages and false promises about positions becoming permanent or having certain duties when in fact they do not. This is NOT an ethical company. They have very low standards and many "managers" are very inept at their jobs and blame their own incompetence on others. It is a place where people are routinely thrown under the bus.

AUTHOR: Herbalife is Illegale - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, April 21, 2011

I was contacted by an HR representative of this company this afternoon, who conducted essentially an interrogation of me and who wants to see the e-mail exchanges between the listed parties, know the hours I worked, and "pay you the overtime you are owed." This person also said that it was a shame that I "posted that e-mail online" and that it came to that; she made frequent reference to "that e-mail you posted online." My response was that no one did anything on my behalf, including responding to my e-mails.

I also further learned that Hazel told this rep that I tried to double-bill the company over a few weeks--which is an outright lie. There was defense for Brandi, with the rep guessing what her mindset must have been, and my correcting those assumptions based on my experience and what was actually said.

The rep wanted the e-mails, etc., by end of business day. I said I would send the e-mails and my hours worked, but I am leery of sending any information as I am doubtful of whether the intention is to really rectify the situation--as, despite there being an apology, I do not know if the person I was speaking with indeed has integrity and is not merely looking out for the company, as tends to be the case in large corporations. In such situations, perhaps an impartial third party--such as the Hourly Wage division of the Labor Dept.--is the best choice to conduct an investigation.
