Broadway Photo & Video Deceptive Selling Practices Bait and Switch Ripoff Brooklyn New York

On Friday June 29, 2007 I placed an order with Broadway Photo and Video for a Panasonic HDC-SD1 High Definition Camcorder. I received an email to call and confirm the order. When my husband called to confirm, he spoke to a high pressure sales man. He first asked if we wanted the extra battery because the supplied battery would only work 20 minutes. We declined. Then he tried selling some lens cover which again, we declined. He then proceeded to tell us we would not have enough memory and that we could upgrade to a 8GB card for $349. Again, we declined. At this point, the salesmen started getting belligerent and proceeded to say that this was a Japanese Camcorder and that we would have to pay an additional $399 for the American Version. We told him to cancel the order and he hung up the phone. I immediately went online to see if the order was canceled, it was not. I then checked to see if they had charged my credit card, which they did not. I felt that Broadway Photo and Video acted suspiciously that I felt it was necessary to report the activity to my credit card company and report my card lost or stolen to prevent any fraudulent acts.

First thing Monday morning, I called Broadway Photo and Video to formally cancel my order. This gentleman was friendly and canceled my order and said that I would receive a conformation email. As of 10:30 am - I have not received this email but when I then checked online and my order was indeed canceled.

This is an excerpt from Broadway Photo and Video's Website - .bwayphoto.com/about.asp In the description, it says nothing about being an imported item or that this is a Broadway Photo Warranty.

I am reporting this with the hope that this company will not be allowed to "bait and switch" products or at least be held responsible for their lack of false advertisements and deceptive selling.
