In March 2008, I purchased a vacation package for 5 days / 4 nights in Cancun Mexico with a bonus of 4 days / 3 nights in Orlando, Florida for 2 adults & 2 children under 12 for $399 US. My husband & I have never gone a vacation before & after 20+ years I thought this was our oportunity. I received my Vacation Rewards gift card but when I try to activate it at www.vacrewards.com I receive a security certification warning that the certificate is not valid & not to use this website. So I tried calling 1-800-690-8590 but it is no longer in service. Since I had written down the company name, phone & representative that originally called me to sell me this package, we called there (Sunset Riel 1-888-848-6543 ext. 233), we told them our problem & we were given another phone & rep to call. We have not called yet as I am now leary. I'm worried that I was scammed or that we are going to end up in a dump.

I read the report from Disgruntled Trenton, Ontario Canada & I too was surprised that we would have to attend a 60 - 90 minute presentation. I admit that I did not question the rep about this at the time of his calling me but I was left with the impression there was none. I do not recall any mention of this, however, the rep was very difficult to understand.

We are now debating to try calling the other number we were given and book our trip or not bother and loose the money we paid.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront.
I found this article that speak precisely about this, you should read it, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

The day after submitting my report I received a phone call from Mexico VIP Holidays. They confirmed the 2nd phone number I was given was for Canada and assured me if I had any other concerns, questions or needed any help to give them a call. I called the 2nd phone number I was given & a lady was very friendly & helpful. She advised me that they were experiencing problems with thier website www.vacrewards.com & gave me another phone number to call to book my reservations. She advised me if I needed further assistance to call her back. I called the number she gave me. I have booked by reservations & feel confident that all is OK. A supervisor from Mexico VIP Holidays contacted me again last night and I advised them that I have booked my reservations. He told me to call him directly if I have any further questions or concerns and he would be more than happy to help me. I want to thank these individuals, all fluent in english, for their help and resting my mind at ease.

Hi,

We regret you had issues calling us. We did have issues with our 800 phone number a few days ago. It was a general failure in our carrier contractor so were unable to recive calls for a long period of time (if you want i can send you the formal letter we got from our carrier explaining the situation) . The number is working and ready to you call us when ever you want. About the site actually that warning is really common in Windows IE. It doesn't not mean by any chance that we are and invalid company or that our site is dangeours in any meaning to you.

A digital certificate is only a way to secure comunications between you and our server (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/D/digital_certificate.html). Because we use a free CA (Certified Authority) IE sees as its not from a valid CA. This again doesn't mean that we are a fraudaulent company or you are in a dangerous position. If you want you can go to http://www.cacert.org which is the organization we use to create our certs.

Regards,

Edgar Osorio

Dear Connie, regarding your certificate it is a legit offer, we thank you for your purchase and hope to have you as a guest in our resorts in the near future. As for the details of your certificate everything that you have mentioned is absolutely correct.

In reference to the activation the phone number is still working however it only works from the USA so you need to dial the other number that is on there for Canada residents such as yourself. When the certificate goes out then the distributor must enter the serial number onto our system so that the website can recognize them and proceed with the activation. In this case the agency where you bought it from may have still been in the process of entering your certificate number and therefore at the time you tried logging into the website it denied you access. Please contact me at sales@premiercancunvacations.com so that I may guide you though the reservation process and get the ball rolling on planning your first vacation.
