Car Hop is auto sales. UAC is the finance company they affiliate with. Yes, this is upsetting and my own fault. I stressfully stand by this contract I signed at Car Hop in richfield. Only because my parents taught me to be consistant and be responsible in my choices I make no matter what they are.

This situation with Car Hop in Richfield, and now UAC (aledged finance company)located in Edina is definatly making me feel I have been taken advantage of. None of the occurences really hit home till a month after dealing with UAC did I realize what I have done or what they do. Dec of 2006 I walked into Car Hop in richfield after a friend told me they finance cars for people who have bad credit. I spent 5 hours in the office and basically was told what car I could have based on my application.

The windshield wipers were rusty and broke. The radio attenna missing. I was tired and desperate I needed a car. I paid little attention to the problems I saw of the car, I figured I could buy winshield wipers and attenna at a low cost. I paid 1200 down for a 1996 dodge intrepid in lower than fair condition and then I paid 400.00 down payment to UAC a week later.

I want to mention they did not tell me how much I was paying till the contract was in front of me. Mind you I paid 1200 to car hop that day and my cost for the car was going to be 5300.00 paid in increments of 250.00 a month for two years. You have NO grace period, you CANNOT be late. Not even a day. They call you and harrass you everday if your late.

Not to mention all your referances get harrassed too. They tell you they are going to take the car even after being late 2 days. they are not nice either, they act like a collection agency who is verbally abusive and emotionally abusive. I am not a loser but after dealing with them, i sure feel like one. I placed myself in a bad situation.

As of feb 2007 (when my car payments of 250.00 started) My wife and I started a divorce procded, yep life happened. Money got tight, the car broke down, major problems, beaks went out after a month of having car. Air conditioner had no belt and was ceased. Car over heated needed a thermostat, engine is on all the time.

i have had the car for a little over a year and have paid 3000,00 for all the repairs it needed and quite honestly if I want to keep it running another year i will have to spend another 2000,00 this year. i am late on my payments. I can't help it. i make 4000,00 dollars a month in my life and I have problems paying my bills with this company. mainly because this darn car has became a princple. it should not be that way.

After this is all said and done I will have paid over 14000,00. This includes payments to car hop and uac and all the repairs to the car. not to mention i think this year i have gone to the doctor more than ever for stress problems. Maybe it was my divorce :) or maybe its the car purchase.

I'm not sure who you are but the way you sound, you must work for uac! This is exactly how they talked to me when i calked to try to make arrangements for payments when i lost my job. Yea lost my job due to my son being admitted to SURGICL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT. Some people would agree a mother's place is with a child in this situation. So you take your mouth and put itback on the phone to whoever it is that you mentally abuse. This is not the place for that, this is were REAL PEOPLE can share their experiences with uac, not help to continue the downward spiral of whatever hardships life has been handing out.  Good day.

Just look at the sorry, stinking welfare types all upset because they are being called by bill collectors because THEY DON'T PAY THEIR BILLS and all upset because they have to pay high APR because THEY destroyed THEIR credit.  The typical example of the sorry, subprime welfare types who will stay sorry subprime welfare types.

You just mentioned about 4 states that UAC operates in, but...those all are states that contain a CarHop location!  And the addresses ALL share a building with a CarHop location!

The truth is, CarHop is running a "ByRider" scam.  They sell cars at high interest rates to people that can't really afford them, that won't outlive the loans, using an in-house finance company that only does business with the CarHop chain.  They KNOW they're doing this, and they're BANKING on the car dying before the loan's paid off.  Because then they sell you ANOTHER car, with ANOTHER expensive loan, and they roll the balance of the first loan into the second loan.

I took part in the case that helped get Dan Nelson of JD Byryder fame a criminal record, so please don't try to pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

UAC and Carhop are the exact same company, The finance side (UAC) tries its best and trains it's employees to make sure the customers "think" they are different companies so when the car breaks down the consumer will be less likely to stop the repayment of the contract. This person is one of to many people being taken advantage of by this company....LET IT STOP

UAC is all over the place, and to say that NOT ONE CAR dealer in the whole state of Minnesota uses them is just a really dumb statement. They are NOT one in the same. UAC is a finance company that finances people with BAD CREDIT. They have locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri as far as I know. Yes, they are predatory lenders, but in their defense, they deal with a lot of losers. But your beef isn't with them, it's with the car lot - Car Hop. All Car Hop did was go to UAC to finance your car for you. UAC has NOTHING to do with this complaint. Who's the idiot?

You can warn people all you want, but when it comes down to brass tacks, people are still going to fall in the same trap you did because they need a car so bad. They will be willing to overlook the little red flags that pop up all over the place during the transaction, and sign the papers regardless.

Next time get a Car-Fax report, take it to a mechanic, and go online to check the value of the car before buying it. Duh. Don't get mad at me - I didn't do anything to you, except point out the obvious mistakes about this purchase.

And don't complain because UAC harrasses you when you are late. You gave them permission to do that when you signed the contract!

Don't be fooled. Car Hop and UAC are one in the same

POSTED: Wednesday, February 20, 2008

I'm not sure i'd refer to their relationship as an affiliation. Car Hop only offers financing for its customers with Universal Acceptance Corp. No other lenders available. Universal Acceptance Corp only provides financing on vehicles purchased from Car Hop dealers only.......Not one other car dealer in the state has access to Universal Acceptance Corp. They are nothing more than a mega buy here, pay here dealer. Chances are they don't even report your good payment history to the credit bureau companies. Most reputable dealers offer several finance options, even to consumers with bad credit. For anyone who reads this, my advice to you is dont let your need for a car and your bad credit turn into a bad decision that compounds your circumstance......explore your options and don't let the implied easy path to a new car fool you. If they treat you like crap, get up and leave. Remember, they are asking you to spend your money there. Demand the respect you deserve, no different than if you had perfect credit

Oh yeah, sounds like Dave works for Car Hop. Either way, he's an idiot

I was willing to pay the 300%. the thing is they should not sell junk cars if we are paying that.now Dave since you are perceiving i cannot keep up the loan it is obvious you don't know me. I will be as i have life is all i am saying and not to mention I am also dealing with it. i placed this ad here so people do not get into the same mess you on the other are harrassing me and making it out like I am wrong. Dave you are actully not an idiot you are overstepping your grounds and not to mention obviously bored.

leave me alone! and let people get the alert about a finance car lot that sells bad cars. and also quit calling me names. Let people be warned about UAC and quit derailing the fact. they sell bad cars. to respond anymore shows your childish side. not to mention why you even gave your rude two cents in the first place i will never know. get a hobby! or a girlfriend maybe boyfriend?

No, I am not an idiot

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 12, 2008

But, I have been buying cars for over 30 years, and know what to look for. And if I was unsure, I always took the car to a qualified mechanic to have it checked out. I also made sure of the car's value before signing any papers. If you had typed in '1996 Dodge Intreped' in google, you would have seen that this car was a big piece of sh...t. You would've been better off looking in private party adds for an older car for cash. At least then you could afford to repair it.

What is so hard about that? Yes, you paid 300% over value for the car, you knew you had no choice. Your problem is you went to a junk lot to buy a car because they would finance you. Then you chose to overlook the obvious flaws because you needed a car. And you chose to believe the car dealer. And who's the idiot?

The AG office may have issues with this dealer for other reasons, but you will never get back any money for repairs. The car was sold as-is, where-is, and you have absolutely no recourse. The previous poster was correct when telling you to pay it off, rebuild your credit, so this won't happen again. But I don't see that happening. That car will not last the term of the loan, and you will need another car and won't be able to keep up the payments on the Dodge.

RE: Lemon laws

AUTHOR: IGR - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 11, 2008

It was not a lemon law I was talking about. the bottom line is, the situation i was in was not that i bought a car, it was a service. the car was just what was in the middle. The attorney general in Minnesota basically told me that what they do is legal, and is being look into for misleading statements or verbal leading from the company employess. its legal as faras the contract. not right but legal. lemon laws do not aply I am not sure I said they did. What we have in my scenario, is just a warning to people if they do not want to pay 300% for a car and have possible car problems to the degree that many have, that slows or hurts you paying for the loan.

Lemon Laws

AUTHOR: Julie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 11, 2008

While what has happened to you is terribly unfortunate, if they did not warranty the car, you took it as is. I would check your paperwork. The other part is most states lemon laws apply only to the purchase of a brand new car, and since the damages are generally minimal, even with a new car, attorneys don't like to take lemon law cases.

I would seriously do what you can to pay that thing off, drive it until it dies, and pay everything else on time to build your credit back up. I know it is very hard when you are down like you are right now, I have been there too and you feel like you cannot get your head above water. Just baby step it and it will work out. I compartmentalize it and try to take my issues one at a time, less overwhelming that way.

You should also see if your bank offers any kind of free financial counseling, because sometimes that helps too.

Dave, who are you? A clown. The rip off in when I buy a car who told me they did repairs and didn't. It becomes a problem when I pay over the blue book within 4 months to keep my situation worth while. are you really that detached from reality or do you work for the company who places people in a bad scenario that maybe unethical or inhumane. The bottom line is, I was getting this car cause I thought it was not a lemon. silly man!! thats the ripoff. grow up! see the point. its enough I am paying 300% for a car from someone. the added repairs was not anticipated. the car was alemon and not mention had been in three accidents.

Not to mention i do not have to check the car out i Minnesota to pursue a deduction with the district attorney. :) talk to them today. it will take time but after I pay the loan off i will pursue my money return in my repairs. the 4 month amount of repairs is proof of a lemon. A antenna and wipers broken certainly did not tell me the motor would be bad.

CAR HOP Sold a Faulty Car - UAC then pursued me like a criminal. Richfield Minnesota

AUTHOR: Tfs - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 11, 2008

The Humbling Story

December of 2006 I walked into Car Hop to buy a car after a friend told me they finance cars for people who have bad credit. I spent 5 hours in the office of Car Hop filling out paperwork. After such a time I was told what car I could have based on my application. They told me what car I was to have. The windshield wipers were rusty and broke, radio antenna missing the color was not what I wanted and so on.

I was tired and I needed a car. I paid little attention to the problems I saw of the car, I figured I could buy windshield wipers and radio antenna at a low cost. I did not think a company who looked and acted like a car lot would let a client drive one of there cars off a lot with major problems especially with the high priced contract they bring forth. The Car Hop office employees did say all cars are tuned and serviced by a mechanic and are in good condition.

After I had the car for a month major problems were revealed, the breaks went out - it was brought to my attention the front breaks were gone for at least 3 months, that would mean I bought a car with no front breaks. A month after that the car over heated and then I found out the air conditioner did not even have a belt, not to mention the motor for the air conditioner where the belt goes on was ceased. Air hoses were crushed and damaged from wear because no one did any general maintenance for years. The exaust manifold had two major puncture holes that had carbon monoxide flowing up into the cab of the car and was a threat in the winter time especially. It needed a thermostat, engine light was on all the time when I got it (still is). The right tie rod was also bent, most of or all nuts/bolts of the car were never touched and majority of them had to be blow torched off. NO ONE DID ANY MAINTENANCE ON THIS CAR FOR YEARS!!

I have had pocession of the car over a year and have paid for all the repairs it needed to be safe and quite honestly I am foreseeing another exepidition of repairs this year. Just in 4 months of having this car, the repairs exeded the blue book of the car.

You have NO grace period, I CANNOT be late. Not even a day. UAC calls me everyday if I am late. Not to mention all my references get calls too. UAC tells me they are going to take the car even after being late 2 days. With a method of intentionally sending a urgency or concern of collection. This maybe emotionally harassing. It could possibly make a client feel like they are being watched and or a UAC agent is in the area going to take the car. I mean cmon, even if i am two months late with any other finance company they don't abuse you this way. Being late for 15 days should not be such an emotional situation.

I do not consider me a loser but after dealing with UAC, I am sure feeling like one. I placed myself in a bad situation. Don't do the same!

I had in mind to purchase a $3000.00 car that day, not a $10,000 one. It was a blue book of 2300.00. What is that, 300%? Lets see in a rough estimate kind of way: $1200 down to Car Hop, and then $400 down to UAC then UAC gets $250 a mo for 24 months hmmm thats 7600.00. Well it is a used car and of course there will be some problems, but $3100 dollars worth within the first 4 months of the car? My god, do you think i was thinking that would happen the day I purchased the car. did Car Hop have my best interest in mind at all? or does UAC consider this at all? Where is the line?

This is a story your should be telling your friends. This isn't a ripoff. You knew the car was bad, you admitted that you knew it was a pos before you signed the contract. You didn't have the car checked out before buying, and you admit to having no other financing alternatives... Where's the ripoff???
