As a Licensed Practical Nurse in Florida, I work 12 - 14 hour days and have not time nor the energy to attend traditional classes to obtain my RN. However; I matriculated Excelsior College's Distance Learning Program, to earn credits towards an RN Degree.

Realizing that self-directed study was nearly impossible, I inquired about Career Learning Center' s advertised tutoring service in June of 2008, with hopes of receiving the help I need to realize the same. I walked into CLC, sat in one class, interviewed with Judy Mainzinger, Director. Judy Mainzinger gave me the,"schpiel", leading me to believe CLC' s tutoring would deliver the much needed quality instruction and assistance.

The tutor handed out barely legible Power Point style modules with info derived right from the Excelsior College Examination Content Guides, and textbooks. She simply read off the overhead screen quickly. Many modules had missing info/pages, were out of order and others had repeated info. "Quantity not quality", here. I' ve made myself sound to Ms. Mainzinger regarding the poor quality, incongruence, and incompetence of the tutoring and service in general.

After attending classes for almost three and a half months, hoping things would get better; all I have is debt, frustration, insecurity, confusion, and reluctance in taking my first Nursing Concepts Exam with Excelsior College.

These inconsistencies persists to this day, nothing's changed. The director is hardly ever at the center, she never returns calls. I have to self-study anyway, I have to test myself anyway, I have to self-register for the classes, something that ought to be done for me as a courtesy. Did I mention I travel 65 miles to get to the center alone?

I must honor the contract I so daftly signed, and will not walk away owing $9000.00 for nothing, otherwise, I would have done an about-face long ago. Other students in my class have voiced the same regarding the lack of concern, quality and direction. I believe CLC is owned by RUE education? I do know that it is a money pit and nothing more. Once you' ve signed that contract all the smile-laced promises subside, they withdraw funds from your accounts rapidly and then you get the old, " what else do you you want from me?" attitude.

This is a mistake I' ve made and hope others whom have thought about RUE consider reading the fine print FIRST and resist signing on the dotted line until the terms are clear to them.
