I bought a Subaru Liberty AWD 2003 from Cars by the Park second hand car dealer in January 2013. It is now May 2013 and the car is at the mechanics for the 4th time and repairs have totalled more than $6500 and I ow do not have any car at all for 2 weeks due to the faulty sale and work done on this ar I bought from them.

Cars by the Park use a terrible mechanic, Sydney JDM Garage, who firstly incorrectly installed the timing belt which has caused the $4000 worth of total engine damage now. Once the cause was verified as the incorrectly installed timing belt, for which I paid Cars by the Park upon purchasing the vehicle, I called them to explain the situation. Firstly Bill Rosse, who is a rude man who loses his temper, said it was none of his business, ring the mechanic and he was reluctant to give me the mechanic´s name and phone number. I insisted and he finally gave it to me. When I called Sydney JDM Garage, Sal Pangano, the owner, refused to call to the Subaru specialist mechanic to sort it out, and said to deal with ars by the Park.

A second call to Cars by the Park resulted in Bill Rosse denying any responsibility and rudely hanging up on me.

This issue is now being taken to a tribunal at the department of Fair Trading for consequential damage.

Additionally, Cars by the Park has continuously tried to avoid taking responsibility and avoid paying any money for the faulty Subaru I purchased

Upon purchase and later driving it around, I discovered a problem with making u-turns. Still within the 3 month dealer warranty I took it back to Cars by the Park. The took it to their terrible mechanic, JDM Garage, who did NOT diagnose the problem correctly at all. I was told to collect it the next day I asked Cars by the Park,

"What was wrong with the car?"

They replied, "What do you care, it´s fixed isn´t it!"

I said, "I would like to know what the problem was with MY car. Could you please find out and call me."

They never called me back to tell me the problem.

I then moved out of Sydney and the problem returned within a month. I called Cars by the Park again, telling them you did not fix the problem. They said, you have to bring it back to Sydney or we won´t fix it.

I specifically asked Cars by the Park BEFORE purchasing the vehicle that I was moving out of Sydney and what would happen then if there was a problem with my car. Cars by the Park told me they would pay for a mechanic near where I lived to fix the car. However when that situation arose, he refused.

Cars by the Park either knew of the problem with the transmission when selling it to me and didnt tell me, or if they didnt know, they have done everything to avoid having to pay for the repaits as is their legal and statuatory obligation.

They even dated an extended warranty I purchased from them from the purchase date instead of from the day that the dealer warranty eds 3 months AFTER purchase.

They got the warranty people to pay part of the cost and I had to pay another $200 out of my own pocket, when this was clearly their legal responsibility.

It has been mutliple bad experiences with this dealer and his shoddy mechanic. STAY AWAY from CARS BY THE PARK.

FYI - Department of Fair Trading ruled that Cars by  the Park were at fault and had to pay me.

a great experience

 We have now bought 2 cars from bill at cars by the park and on both occasions have found him to be honest and forthright with both purchases. Easy car shopping! We travelled in excess of 3 hours to buy from him and he has always explained any minor faults prior to us getting in the car. We highly recommend his honesty, attitude and service.
