I recieved a call on my cell phone first, from a female with a heavy accent who wanted to verify who I was. Once she made sure I was the right person, then I was told to call a man that she referred to as "Officer David Cooper" about a very important matter.
I called the number that she gave me and the person answered with a thick accent by the name of "Officer David Cooper".
He told me that he was calling to collect on a payday loan on behalf of a company that he did not name. He told me that he had my address and social security number and tried to get me to settle a $650 debt for $350. I told him that I did not take out a loan from his company. He then told me that he was not trying to pressure me to settle this. He just wanted to know if I was going to pay it or not. If not, then he informed me that the police would come to my home to make an arrest because as he stated, " I was in violation of the law". Mr. Cooper seemed very aggressive when I did not fold and agree to send him the money. As I continued to argue with him about this loan that I had never even heard of, he continued to threaten me with the police coming to my home to make an arrest.
I asked "Officer Cooper" to send me a COPY OF THE CONTRACT the he claimed I violated. He sent me via email, something that was copied and pasted from any regular payday loan contract. The only problem with it was, IT DIDN"T HAVE MY SIGNATURE ON IT!!" This jerk created a phony account number, fake loan amount, etc.
Then, I looked them up on the internet and sure enough, I found hundreds of complaints similar if not exactly like the one that I am writing now.
I called "Officer Cooper" back and told him that was a fraud and a scam artist, I then told him that I was going to report him to the Better Business Bureau, and I would take the steps necessary to send the police to HIS house, and have HIM arrested.
"Officer Cooper" told me that I was the a scam artist, and then hung up me. Go figure.
