I went to TRU (toys are us)  today  to puchase a gift card for my grandkids  total amount $100.00  

they scanned my check through certegy check device   and i was told it was flaged with a code 2

what isa code 2?  tru had no idea.     i then asked them well is it coming from my bank or sone otger company

they said it was from certegy    corporate office phone  800 215 6280      i would like everyone to boycott TRU and certegy

TRU for using this company.         i dd find out code 2 means not enough history on file  i told the minimum wage worker

that  if you refuse my checks i'll never get a history  AND THE ONLY HISTORY I'LL HAVE ON RECORD IS DENIED!!

 

i WAS EMBARESSED AND FELT STUPID  because of certegy    and before anyone jumps on me and i was told it has nothing to do withcredit scores...  my cs is 861   i owe 276 dollars to nmy bankamerica cc  my home is paid off  i retired at 55 (i'm 60 as of this writting) my wife and i have a sizable savings   what i'm trying to say is we have no credit issues but this company is needs to be brought to the attention of aat general and the banking commisioner (don't know if he is the right person)      I am also sending this to corporate office of "TRU

my cs was meant to say 816 nt 861   that is the only thing i need to ansewre to you for...  that was my error

 

everything else you must work for certegy   why don't you get a respectable job like cleaning toilets.

 Why must when people write a "RipOff" report exaggerate things to try and make them look better?  When all it does is make it look like they are making things up.

my cs is 861

- Okay your "cs"(Credit Score) is 861.  Well since the most common credit score is FICO and that score maxes out at 850 that number you posted is meaningless.  Not to mention that even if you did have a FICO score and it was 850..less than 1% of the US population has a score in the 840-850 range.  Because with the dozens of credit scoring systems out there that score you posted could be anywhere from Horrible Credit to Great Credit.  Oh and you were told correctly...this has nothing to do with Credit scores so you might as well have left this out.

Now back to your "issue".  This company is a Check Guarantee company, which means that they guarantee to these stores that if the check comes back bad they will cover it.  As such they have certain guidelines under which they accept those checks.  There is no law or regulation that states a company MUST accept a check.  So you can contact the banking commisioner or any regulatory agency you want...they will tell you the exact same thing.

Next, with all due respect why in the world are you writing checks.  How come when your "check" was declined you didn't whip out your debit card?   I don't think there is a single bank out there that does not make a Debit Card Standard with a Checking Account.  So it is not like you didn't have one.  The ONLY reason you would have tried to write a check is if you didn't have enough money in your account and your Debit Card would have been declined.  Where you thought you could "float" a check for a couple of days until you would have the funds.  Of course if that is the case how come you didn't use your Credit Card that you only have a $279 balance, and just make an extra $100 payment to avoid the Interest on that.

Oh and if you start to go off on the "Checks are Safer"...oh really?  A Check has your Name, Address, Signature, and full bank account number.  It is also "touched" by probably no less than a half dozen people, any of whom could copy that information down and wipe out your bank account.  Now what does a debit card have?  It has basically a random 16 digit number that is linked to your bank acccount.  It is also not touched by any "human".  In addition to this most banks have fraud protection on the debit cards in case they are used fraudlently, which they do not extend to checks.

FYI I won't be boycotting any store because your check was declined, I'll just use my debit card...Sorry.
