I first responded to a job advertisement through Monster or Careerbuilder, something along those lines. I was looking for a sales opportunity and thought I might give outbound sales a shot after reviewing the company website. I thought with some training and an offer of preset appointments from their call center I might have a shot.

I received a phone call and brief interview and was pretty much rushed through an application process. I was briefed on several financial perks and details but most of that was in the advertisement. He said it looked like I would be hired as long as there were no issues with my background check. But suddenly I am called back and told I would be training the following day and I had to register for the online class, that I would receive a package via fedex the next day. A second person even got on the phone to verify my name and address.

I felt that this was a bit strange. No background check, a rather quick interview process, the guy seemed to be calling me from a busy office which looking back may have been a call center. They seemed to be more like telemarketers verifying a sale rather than someone from Human Resources. I went ahead and registered for the class but thought I would do some more research on the company.

I found that there are quite a few people who were looking for work, not necessarily qualified, but accepted for the position and put to work almost immediately. In my case what was once 10 day training was to be 1 day online and would have appointments set for me the following day. The package they sent me contained a presentation manual, a cd and non cancellable leases. Apparently there is a 5 yr lease on these things; not sure if that is the norm. There was a brief description of how you may qualify for the "Fast Start' bonus but it does require you complete several sales before qualifying. There is no description of how you will be compensated after 90 days (may be on the CD).

Anyhow, after looking online I found several people, just like me, who started with the company only to find the leads are bogus and they were duped into visiting these businesses in the hopes of closing a deal. I also found customers who were convinced to switch to their services, were not satisfied but stuck in this 5yr lease at roughly $65-$150 for equipment/month plus numerous transaction, maintenance and set up fees.

After discovering their reputation and startled by how quick the hiring and training process was, I bailed out. If this is in fact a legitimate business I still wouldn't want to work for them, the reputation of the company I work for actually matters to me.

P.S. Thanks to ripoffreport.com, yahoo and some of the other posting sites online that exposed this company's practices.
