C&F Movers damaged our child’s bed frame and refuses to fix or replace the item. May 1, 2014 we hired C&F Movers to move our household.  Our family moved 8 miles from a home in Punta Gorda to our new home, also in Punta Gorda. The owner Frank Palermo came to our house and provided us a quote.  C&F moved us May 27, 2014. We were originally pleased how fast the move went. My wife and I were concerned about damage to furniture because the movers seemed so rushed. We did notice some scratches on our dining room cabinet and missing screws from other items. We expect some wear from moving and so we did not mention it to C&F. That is until our daughter told us her drawers under her bed would not open. When we looked closer, we realized the bed frame had not been put back together properly. We contacted C&F Mover, Frank Palermo is the owner. After two calls Frank finally sent out two movers who spent 5 minutes in my daughter’s’ room. They told me the frame just needed to be adjusted, and that it was fixed. Within 3 days, the drawers stopped working. I took them out and inspected the frame myself. The entire undercarriage is broken in several places. The screws are no longer holding the cross supports together. One screw was lying on the floor under the bed were the movers had obviously left it. This bed was new and had been assembled at our previous home. The damage had to come from the movers, and is obvious to anyone who looks, that the damage is permanent. We contacted C&F Movers and they told us they do not repair “cheap” (their word) IKEA Brand furniture. We asked C&F Mover receptionist to have the owner, Frank Palermo, call us back. He did not return our call and he refuses to stand by his word.  We just want the bed frame repaired or replaced so it functions properly.  New replacement bed would have only cost $214.

Update:  After I filed a complaint with The State of Florida Dept of Agriculture, who regulates movers, they notified C&F Movers.  On October 27, 2014, owner, Frank Palermo called me on my cell at work and immediately started screaming in a profanity laced rant.  He threatened me and called me a “chicken s***” and “motherf*****”.  I tried to get a sentence in, but could not, so I hung up on him.  Frank called me right back and began screaming and cursing again.  I tried to tell him the reason for our complaint, but he would give me the opportunity.  My wife is concerned for the safety of our family since Mr. Palermo has acted with such hostility, rage, and vulgarity towards our family.  We just want our furniture fixed.  Please, no more Bullying or threats against us.

Had to go to Charlotte County Court for protection from Frank

AUTHOR: Bigwinman - ()

POSTED: Saturday, January 10, 2015

Because of the verasity and vile nature of Frank Palermo's threats, We filed a request for a temporary order of protection (restraining order) to keep Frank Palermo away from our family.  On December 1, 2014 a County Judge heard our testimony and granted (ordered) the temporary order of protection.  Frank Palermo was not to come within 500 feet of our family.  Through this process we learned Mr. Palermo is no stranger to violence and the criminal system.  He has multiple felony arrests (check Charlotte County Sheriff Website).  Is this the character of person you want to invite into your home? How can he own and opperate a business which requires trust and good moral behavior?

Proof you can NOT trust Frank Palermo

AUTHOR: Bigwinman - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 17, 2014

My explicit goal from posting this review of C&F Movers is to help other consumers make an informed decision before hiring Frank Palermo, C&F Movers.  If I can save one or two families from experiencing this nighmare, than I will be satisfied.  I do not want anything more to do with Frank Palermo and C&F Movers.  I do not want my furniture fixed or any money to replace the broken item.  Their actions have gone way beyond any point that could salvage this situation.  I just want Frank Palermo to stop calling me, cusing at me, and threatening me.

Rebuttal:  Every word of our complaint was accuarate and true.  Frank Palermo has called my cellular phone on four seperate occasions.  The first two times he called me, he screamed and cursed and my co-workers could and did over hear him make threats against me and my business.  Mr. Frank Palermo has gotten so aggressive that we were forced to call The Charlotte County Sheriff and report him for making threats (November 14, 2014).  The Sheriffs Deputy instructed and advised us to visit the county court house and file a restraining order.  On Monday, November 17, 2014 (today) I did go to the court house and spoke to a domestic violence clerk regarding this matter.  She provided me the necessary paperwork and I have started to fill it out.  I plan to file it tomorrow.  I spoke to Frank Palermos' Attorney on Friday, November 14, 2014 and asked him to please keep Mr. palermo away from my family and business.  Frank Palermo called me that day in one of his fits of rage and told me he was "going to ruin me and my business".  He said he could make up false complaints about my company and post them on line to get me back.  This guy is a raving lunatic.  At first I thought Frank was just a Bully and a Jerk.  Now I wish that was all he is.  PLEAESE PLEASE PLEASE Avoid this guy and his C&F Movers.

Unjustified Inaccurate Allegations Are False & Defamatory

AUTHOR: movers - ()

POSTED: Friday, November 14, 2014

Mr. Schooley has resorted to lies and vindictive tactics. None of the bullying, cursing or threats he claimed ever took place. The photos he posted only further enforce our statements made to him about  partical/consumer assembled furniture.

C&F Movers provided moving service for the Schooley Family on May 27th, 2014.    Winston Schooley was provided a moving estimate on May 1st, 2014.  At this estimate, Mr. Schooley was given the original physical copy of the Contract signed by Frank Palermo (Owner, C&F Movers) which contains the entire Terms and Conditions of the moving service being offered.  I have included a copy of these terms and conditions in the pictures attached.

Please refer to the page  with the header: “Written Binding Estimate, Order for Service, Bill of Lading and Contract for Residential Shipments Important Notice”.

This document outlines all contingencies of the move in order to better prepare the shipper (client).

I will first refer to Line #6 of this document.  “6.  Insurance will not cover any pressboard, flake board or other consumer assembled furniture.”

‘Consumer Assembled Furniture’ refers to any furniture that requires simple assembly at home after purchase, such as a bed in a box purchased from IKEA or Wal-Mart or any other consumer retail store.  These items, as detailed on their respective containers and consumer retail websites, do not require professional assembly and are easily put together using hardware and tools included in the box or found at home.

In reference to the complaint listed by the Schooley Family, there are statements made that conflict with the performance review they filled out at the end of the move on 5/27/14.

Statement #1 – “My wife and I were concerned about damage to furniture because the movers seemed so rushed.  We did notice some scratches on our dining room cabinet and missing screws from other items.  We expect some wear from moving and so we did not mention it to C&F.”  The job was billed by the hour, the men were not "rushed".  The men handled the job the way we would have expected them to, steady and consistant pace.

I specifically bring your attention to the document in the packet with the header C&F Movers, Inc.

Question 6 on this document asks “Were there ANY damages to your belongings?”    The Schooley Family answered NO.  The entire document is filled out with 10s on each line, and a YES for the recommendation.  If, after the move, there were missing screws, obvious scratches to dining room furniture or any other blatant damages to items they would/should have brought it to the attention of C&F Movers IMMEDIATELY…not 4 or 5 MONTHS later. The Schooley's initial contact to us reporting the damage wasn't until 9/2/14, almost 4 months after the move. On good faith, against the policy outlined in Line #6 of the Terms, Frank Palermo (Owner, C&F Movers) sent a Crew Leader and helper, at no cost, and attempted to assist, as much as possible, with the bed/drawers under the bed.

C&F Movers was NOT the original party who assembled the bed.  There is documentation provided outlining that C&F Movers assumes no liability for this type of big box retail, consumer assembled, pressboard furniture.  There is documentation showing there was no damages to items at the time of move.  There is a contract provided, signed by both parties, Mover and Shipper, agreeing to the estimate and included terms found on both sides of the document.
