Charlotte Rage Softball Joe McCauley Ripped Off By The Charlotte Rage & Joe McCauley Monroe North Carolina

We were contacted by the Charlotte Rage regarding our daughter playing softball for their travel team for the season of 2014. The coach of the team had coached my daughter the prior season in a recreational league and assisted on a travel team she briefly played for as well. The coach knew that we had a bad experience the year before and was hesitant to call us but he needed one more player to round out his team.

I told him that we would be interested but my main concern was that we have five children under 11 playing sports and we couldn't make it to the practice field they used in the past. He told me that they would be using our recreational fields for practice and that was going to be great because our otherchildren practiced their as well. Unfortunately after two practices the coach said they had to move back to the old practice field and while he offered to drive our daughter back and forth to practice each night, we just were not comfortable having her so far away without one us with her.

I contacted the owner of the organization Joe McCauley regarding a refund as we paid a $350 fee in advance for a uniform and all of the tournament fees for the season. Since we had only attended two practices and had not played any tournaments I asked to have my money refunded but did offer to let the association keep the uniform as a donation. Joe was very matter of fact in telling that travel softball was "cut throat" buisness and that I should have read the agreements before we started because they do not give refunds under any circumstance. When I went back and read the forms I had signed there was a no refund clause in the code of conduct form for players to sign. I might agree with that if I had not expressed the fact that would not be able to participate based on the distance to the practice field before we signed on.

At this time it looks like I am out $350 dollars and Joe McCauley will be keeping out uniform s well. If you encounter this organization you may think twice about joining based on my experiences and those of several other people I have heard from after the fact.
