My husband was laid off from his job and got behind in his child support. His Drivers License was suspended. Which I understand this was the problem.
Our Income Tax Return was intercepted which we expected.
What we did not expect was that he would have to pay $342.00 on top of the fact that the IRS refund was taken He was only behind about $1300.00 and before we even filed taxes they were taking an extra $40.00 a month from his wages, Our IRS refund that was taken was approx $925.00.
Does not add up does it? In addition to this the Stimulus Payment that was sent out we were supposed to get $1800.00 the IRS took that as well for Child Support in the amount of $1474.00 mind you now this was around March for the IRS tax refund and July for the Stimulus payment and in the meantime an extra $40.00 is still being taken from my husbands wages every month this just stopped as of 11/7/08 and in addition my husband had to go to court because he was in contempt because they said that he was still behind because they have not released either of the interceptions. He had to pay an extra $300.00 by 9/5/08 to keep from going to jail. When he went to court he was told that after he pays the $300.00 that the money that is overpayment will be sent to him.
We have still not received anything and it is 11/11/08 by my figures if you count the extra money he paid they owe us about $2000.00 dollars and we really need this money this is in no way fair and I feel that something should be done about them just taking money without researching anything first if they would have checked they would have seen that they took the IRS refund so we should have gotten all of out stimulus payment and then some from them. When we went to the Child Support Office on MLK the Lady could not even explain anything in English she was very rude and really a waste of time my 11 year old daughter could have done a better job. How can we get them off of their butts and send us our money.

I have had to deal with those bastards at FLSDU. They are just as you say they are, and worse. Something has to be done about that organization, and the state government in general. They really and truly suck.
