After a major setback in income, we were forced to work out payment plans with our credit card companies. Our plan with Citicard was completed in November. We received a letter stating they wanted to "reward us" for completing the plan satisfactorily, but with no details. Then we received a phone call stating that if we would pay an additional $150 it would bring our account current and our interest rate would be 19% (as opposed to the loanshark rate of 32% that companies are allowed to charge for some reason).

We promptly paid this amount, wanting to get our credit back in line. This was on November 18. On December 8, we received another phone call stating that because the interest rate was at 32% (go figure) it put our balance over the limit again and we would need to make an additional payment, which was much more than we had, to get it current (again) and bring the interest to 19%. I explained that we were told something different. The rep said she would look into it and get back with me. Never heard anything. Then got another phone call saying we were behind by $300+ even though we were making regular payments.

Today, January 19, I spoke with a supervisor, Donna, who was extremely rude and disrespectful. I let my emotions get the better of me, but never cussed at her or said anything offensive. I only raised my voice because she was not listening to me. She hung up on me. My husband then called and asked for another supervisor, Mrs. Hodges. He was on the phone with her a good 15 to 20 minutes and had to regularly ask her to please let him finish speaking as she kept interrupting. Both of these supervisors admitted that the notes on our account indicated that we were told what we said we were told, but that it was wrong. Mrs. Hodges eventually ended up hanging up on my husband, even though he was very polite and never raised his voice.

He then called back AGAIN, and finally spoke with someone who was at least somewhat considerate. However, they also said that we were given wrong info and basically are stuck.

If a company tells you something and you do it, in good faith, they should stand by it no matter what their normal practice is. Citicard is very unreasonable and extremely difficult to work with. I will NEVER use them again, once I get this bill paid and I will tell EVERYONE I can that they should not do business with them because it is IMPOSSIBLE to get any understanding or consideration from them.

I would suggest that you goto bbb.org and submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. They will contact Citigroup and help resolve the complaint.

I've always had very good luck in getting things resolved with the BBB.

Their services are FREE to consumers, so you really have nothing to loose by trying.

Good luck and let us know how it goes...
