Obviously this was posted by a person who used to be associated with CLA and the separation appears to ave been tenuous.  If the reporter would provide their name, we may be able to give you more insight as to why they are disgruntled.  However, they choose to be anonymous and give false and misleading information about our company.

We clearly outline in our marketing materials that CLA does estate planning coordination and that we offer insurance products to achieve our client's retirement goals.  We do not mislead anyone on what we do.  However, we are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice to our clients.  Our business model has been vetted by reputable attorneys to ensure we operate in an ethical manner.  Further, we do not prepare any legal documents for our clients.  All legal work is done by a licensed attorney in the client's state.  The client engages and pays the attorney directly, consults with an attorney as to what legal plan works best for them and the attorney then creates the legal documents.  During this process, CLA ensures that the work is getting done in a timely manner and assists the client in implementing their planning in accordance with the instructions from the attorney. 

When you are a CLA client, you are entitled to annual reviews for the life of both spouses and we will then assist your children upon the second death.  These lifetime reviews are to ensure that you have properly implemented your planning and to ensure that your planning is updated in the event of changes.  

CLA USA agents are licensed insurance representatives who assist our clients in implementing their planning, including developing a financial plan to ensure the client's financial goals are met.  Again, we fully disclose what we do in our marketing materials and our website.  We do promote the use of fixed and fixed-indexed annuities for our clients as they protect our client's investments from market risk and provide a safe enviroment to achieve finanical planning goals, whether its for future income, nursing home or wealth transfer. Seniors need to have a conservative finanical strategy to ensure their money is protected.

It is a blatant misrepresentation to claim that the company has stolen from the State of Texas for years.  If the person is referring to the fact that our CLA USA agents are independent contractors, that is accurate.  However, that is typical in the insurance industry.  Again, whether or not the agents are employees or independent contractors has no relevancy as to how we service our clients.
