*Consumer Comment: ACOP (American Consumer Opinion) is not a rip-off. Maybe a dupe site had been set up as a trap.
Signed onto on line survey group, clicked on "register",was required to submit c.card info and was charged 39.95. Went to Survey site to go to survey links but they did not work:the whole list 'froze'.E-mailed acop.com requesting info;they reported their service is free. Informed them they charged me via clickbank. Requested survey names and links or a refund. Recieved email stating only they will provide surveys and 'do not charge' Have no surveys or refund.

I have done surveys for ACOP for over a year. The initial sign-up was free. I have never been asked for any kind of money whatsoever. They are the most professional survey group I have worked for. You only get email from them when there is a survey coming up that they need respondents for. The pre-screening questionnaire is very short. If you are within the demographic they need, you receive another email within a few days or weeks with a link to take a longer survey. I received $3.00 twice for doing a survey that took about 15 minutes. Once I was sent a (free) product to use in the home and then give feedback for (for which I was paid.) I haven't qualified for many surveys, but I don't mind because it is very little effort and I haven't ended up on a bunch of mailing lists (which happens with MANY other survey sites.)
My guess is that somebody set up a site made to appear to be hosted by this company, but wasn't. I have found it helpful to first do a search, check over the names as they appear, and go to those with the most likely reputable name. I then look on that site for a company history, etc. Only after seeing company data, contact numbers, etc., will I provide any personal information.
