This company told me I would make $700 week (salary) as a Fed Ex delivery driver working Mon-Fri from 7am until around 4pm. I would be making deliveries for half of the county making residential deliveries. I quit my job, went to work for them and worked 7am until 8 or 9pm everyday. They had me doing residential deliveries, business deliveries and pickups. I was also told I would have a printout of my stops and the truck would be loaded in the morning when I arrived. Instead, there was a huge pile of boxes behind my truck everyday when I arrived. They were in no order and I had to make out my own list going through the random boxes as I loaded it. I told them I needed hourly pay or I could not stay (they refused). When I left, they gave me $1060 for the 2 weeks (should be $1400) stating it was "training pay" which was never discussed. I will be reporting them to the Dept of Labor.

I worked the route for two weeks and was given the "contract" after I had been there a week (2nd week when I was loading, you gave it to me and said to sign it when I got a chance).

Slow worker?? Your grasping. I knew the area very well and you commented on that several times. Several days you stated, we've got a lot, so I'll drive and show you the ropes. YOU did most everything on one particular day and we got off at 9pm, so "I" was not slowing you down.

So the new guy gets off by 4pm? Thats odd since he delivered a package to my house a while back at 10:22pm when he started at 7am (you know, the scanner that shows on the tracking on when it was delivered). I've seen his truck out past 8 pm several times recently. I really feel bad for him.

DOT work hours are set by the Federal Government and anything past 9pm is a violation of hours(since all your employees start at 7am), thats probably why you would put the start time 9am (on the scanner) when we left the facility at 9:30 or 10am. The job was not difficult, but it was time consuming and working around 65 hrs a week is not worth 700 a week. For someone that is used to making minimum wage, its probably a really good job.

The last time an employer "mis-informed" me this much was my Army recruiter! I didn't call Dept of Labor because the things you told me were verbal and that won't do any good.

What you verbally told me:

Work 8-9 hr days, I worked 13-14 except for one 10 hr day and one 12 hr (2 week period) and I ABSOLUTELY was not running slow. I couldn't read the labels quite as fast as you, so lets say I took around 30 min's a day longer than you, even call it an hour and I'm still no where near the hrs you stated. You stated I would be driving a van, but put me in a 15 yr old truck with 1.1 million miles on it with no A/C, heat, radio or even a 12v plug for a GPS. The second week you put me in a van because you knew I was about ready to walk.

You told me I could take the truck home after my deliveries since I lived in my delivery area. Thats impossible with the pick ups and could never work. I was also told I would be on the residential route for the western side of the county. Not true. Why not just state I would work the entire county residential and business including pick ups.

I was really looking forward to doing something different and was excited to start working for you. After just the 3rd day, I already dreaded coming to work knowing I was probably going to work about 5 hrs for free each day. You cannot deliver to 80-100 different places all over the county in 8 hrs without violating some serious traffic laws.

In my 22 year career, I've never had a negative evaluation, but recieved numerous commendations, so you calling me a slow worker that couldn't catch on is quite a desperate way to make my review look like some average disgruntled employee spouting off on the internet. My last career was MUCH more demanding than delivering boxes. Your employees work more hours during the week than a over the road truck driver! Atleast the truck driver gets paid for the miles they drive.

Like I said, this is a good job for someone who is used to working minimum wage, because they will actually be making $10-11 an hr. So I didn't give the job a chance? The second week was a repeat of my first week and we were not even close to the holiday season. How long do you stand in the fire before you realize your getting burned? Also, you don't have to leave my packages in the driveway in the weather. I'm not going to be confrontational if you put them on the porch out of the rain. I'm a little more mature than that and grew up a long time ago. You may get more applicants if you are honest with them about the job. Good luck in your business and try not to over work the people you have.

Hello Former Employee, I remember you well. Yes, we did agree to $700/week once you were delivering by yourself. Until then we do have training pay because you need to be trained in order to be a successful FedEx delivery driver. This is time consuming & expensive. The pay and terms are also clearly outlined in the Employment Contract, which you should have read before signing.

We did not agree to pay you hourly because (1) we do not bend to intimidation by employees and (2) you were very slow moving and hourly would have cost us far more money than the deliveries you were completing. The route you ran for less than 1 week is now being run by someone who is getting home earlier than 4pm on most days, proving that our assessment of this route was accurate.

The Ground routes do not have maps or manifests yet, this is true. That is something FedEx corporate handles and we have no control over it. We did help you map out your route each morning and help you load your truck. You also had the option of a Home Delivery route, which would have come with maps.

Yes, you were instructed to deliver to both residences & businesses and do pickups within a particular area - this is part of every FedEx delivery route. We were disappointed when you left without giving this position a fair chance, but we do understand that this job is challenging to get the hang of and it is not for everyone.

We wish you well in all your endeavors.
