Wow! I can't believe how many people out there share my hellish experience with Combined Insurance! All the others accounts I've come across are almost like reading my own story.

I had never worked with insurance before, but I decided to try it. A friend told me about Combined. I tell you what, working for them was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I still have nightmares about it!

Where do I begin? I could probably write a novel about all of my experiences. And I quit working for them in February of 2004!

First of all, I was going to work for a different company until my friend told me about Combined. By that time I already had my license.

I had to go to Chicago(about 5-6 hours from where I live) for 2 agonizing weeks of class. Thank goodness I had my license already or it would have been 3. What a joke!

The whole time there was just a bunch of brainwashing and treating you like you were 5 years old. I had to pay for everything except for certain meals and the hotel stay. At least the hotel was nice.

That was only the beginning to the nightmare. The real fun began after actually going out into the field, which, if I remember correctly, was not too soon after returning home. So, as you can imagine, I was quite "financially challenged" for awhile.

This job was the biggest bunch of bull as I've ever seen. When I was interviewed, they made all these promises about all the money I'd be making, even in the first year. Whatever! That was just a foretaste of the lies.

They also promised no door-to-door(which I detest) sales, just mainly dealing with current policy holders. It turns out the biggest part of the job was door-to-door! You should have seen the ridiculous methods we had to use to get into the door.

I am an honest person, and I love people. It turns out that I didn't succeed at this job because I just couldn't go out and feed unsuspecting people all these lines of crap and feel good about myself. I have a thing called dignity.

And let's talk about the treatment I got when I went door-to-door! I got chewed out, cussed out, told to leave, hit on, doors slammed in my face, you name it. And that was just the current policy holders sometimes! I don't know how many times I had people say, "Combined Insurance? I used to have them, and I will never deal with them again!" or any words to that effect.
I even had people be nice as pie to me until I said what company I worked for, then they turned on me.

And the meetings! I can't begin to explain the childishness. See if you can picture grown adults in business attire doing cheers. How sickening.

I spent more money than I made on gas in the car. We only made commissions, so if you had little sales and/or renewals, tough luck. I had to drive all over the place. There were days when I put 200 miles on the car on a one-way trip. Forget that. Even if I made more money I wouldn't have liked it.

I think I made more money working fast food. Oh, I forgot to mention that I'd start at about 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning and not get home some nights until after 9:00 P.M.

The biggest thing that got me was that it seemed that I was the only one that noticed all of these weird things. All my coworkers went along with it like little puppets. If I mentioned anything to management, they looked at me like I had 3 heads.

I am so glad that this job is a distant memory. I just wanted to share my story with others out there. I thought I was alone with my complaints until I found this website.

Don't fall for the lies! Take my advice and save yourself while you can!
