About 5 years ago Comcast's modem quit working. I had bought a similar modem from eBay a short while earlier and the Comcast repair person replaced their defective modem with MY modem. He took THEIR defective modem with him. They quit billing me as they should have and everything was fine. Other than this, their service, billing, etc. was fine.

I changed to a different internet provider. Comcast continued to bill over and over and over. We almost had to drive to their office physically as they demanded, but finally numerous phone calls that had to resort to threats finally succeeded. The account was in my husbands name though I had started it. They told him he didn't know his social security number. We tried mine, my son's - the only two possible others. They rudely continued to tell my husband they could not cancel without his correct social security number which only they magically knew.

That was horrible and cost us many months of billing, but I was willing to walk away. I guess they weren't. Someone there sent the account to a collection agency saying we had not returned the modem that they had taken years earlier when it was defective. Of course Comcast could not even find that repair order and just didn't respond over the fact they had stopped billing for the modem when it was given back.

Eventually they said they could do nothing since they had turned it over to "Complete Recover Services". A year and a half later and hundreds of phone calls later it continues. I've told them many times it is a disputed bill and they can not collect it. They say only Comcast can stop it and Comcast says only CRC can stop it and they continue.. We can't even pick up our phone unless we recognize a family members number.

They have damaged our credit costing us tens of thousands in lost interest from the inability to refinance our home and some other properties. We've been turned down by suppliers for our business because of the damage they have done.

Beware of these incompetent, inconsiderate, vengeful, nasty, ignorant people. They are the worst of the worst.

 Complete Recovery Corp is not a collections firm.  They are a contractor firm that assists comcast in providing assistance to customers who have not returned equipment. The poor record keeping comes from the face that Comcast sometimes either sends incorrect information to collect accounts or fails to update the company after the client returns their equipment.  Many customers -- for either busy schedules, not an office around their area, missing tech pickup dates, other reasons -- have trouble returnign equipment, so we provide a valuable service to cable customers.  Yes, some mistakes get made like in every business, but CRC makes a very collective effort at servicing all the accounts given to them with vigor and complete professionalism.  We work with the technical support division of Comcast, so not all divisions know who we are, resulting in some customers erroneously being told CRC is a fraud.  Does the manager at McDonalds know who the McDonads CEO is?  Likely not, but that doesn't make either of them a fraud.  Anybody who wants to more about this company can contact them direct at 291 W 5400 S # 202  Murray, UT 84107. You need to dispute the debit is not valid on all three credit bureau reports. It may take some time. You will need to snail mail delivery confirmation or return receipt do not dispute online. If the Credit Bureau insist it is accurate. Keep writing them. Also, I would recommend getting an attorney.
