I purchased a Toshiba Satalite S805-1955 with a PIV 2.5 Ghz 512/60. When I was there the sale people said I should definately purchase the extended warranty, if anything goes wrong they will fix it or swap out the laptop.

I purchased this 2 year TAP plan, just in case. Well 2 months later i started to have quite a few problems, the sound card went bad, and it overheats quite often causing frequent lockups. A problem that I have all the time as I am typing now, is it reformatting my documents and putting the cursor somewhere else in the document. I am typing and it is doing it again, so I am going back to fix the errors.

This problem occors in outlook, notepad, the browser and MS Word. It is very frustarting. Toshiba says they swapped the board out, whether they did or not I will never know. The OS has been blown away six times bu comp usa, this has not fixed the problem either. It has been in 6 times, and I have lost the use of it for my work while it was in the shop over and over again. I am a Dell Systems Engineer and use it on site every day. I recieved this laptop back with the top scratched up, and a strip that covers crews sticking up with a hair underneath of it. I asked Comp Usa to swap it out, they refused to, and refused to replace the parts they have scratched up and have ruined.

I am looking for a class action law suit or an attorney to take this case or start a class action law suit, against Comp Usa and Toshiba, for a frauulant Replacement Plan, the TAP Plan offered by Comp Usa, and Tohiba not backing that Plan. I have spoke with Comp Usa Headquarters, and they have terrible service, support.

COMP USA screwed me and my 16 year old as well

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 03, 2007

We bought my 16 year old son a Toshiba laptop for Christmas and ended up taking it in multiple times because it would smoke (we know its a bad habit but we could not get it to quit!). Even the tech in Reno smelled it. We would get it back saying nothing is wrong and it would smoke again. I have lost count how many times we took it in. When we bought it we were also conned into buying the extended warranty that they don't honor. We had problems with the power cable connection and it would not charge the battery unless you jiggled it and got it just right. When we dropped it off the unit turned on, and we demonstrated the problem. They contacted me a couple of days later saying that there was water damage done to the unit and it voided the warranty. I had them email me pics and had my tech manager at my office look at it. He said with that amound of damage it would not have done anything, and never would have turned it. Which it now does not do. Since it worked when we dropped it off its pretty obvious they caused the damage. I filed a BBB complaint but nothing happened. I have tried to call numerous times with no response. I am going to try the lemon law thing next but I want in on your law suit. Contact me when you find someone to take it. I have all my documents still and a very expensive dust collector to support my accusastions.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

comp usa=bull crap and lies

AUTHOR: Richter - (U.S.A.)

i fel your pain anguish and lament. i understand what its like to be without a computer. I quit from working for comp usa cause the sales manager is an insecure bully and the srvice manager is a cranky ol wanker. but anyways if you got it from a person in business atire not a red shirt theyhave quotas to meet and dont know wha they are selling 90% of the time. everything is put on a -G- ticket and they get barely anything for the sale.

well, I am more then willing to give information on comp usas practices and see they get prosecuted for scamming and illegal false advertising. If your county or where you live has a consumer affairs person contact them and let the D.A. investigate. They been sued for rebates in the 90's and their stock is on the mexican stock exchange. hope this info is of use.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Kurt, same problem here.

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

I bought a Toshiba Satellite back in 10/2002.
Same problems you mentioned, but also with mine it had a yamaha sound card tat had incompatible and unstable drivers. No available upgrade for Toshiba systems from Yamaha except a generic driver.

Multiple system crashes, blue screen errors, etc.

Back to Comp USA 3 times, back to Toshiba for 7 weeks once, still same problems.

Had to buy another laptop as I was on the road 48 states running a trucking business.

I will NEVER buy anything else from Comp USA and will NEVER buy another Toshiba product. They are JUNK!

I even had the 3 year extended warranty that included a one time replacement if not able to be fixed properly. They would not honor it!

I didn't have time to deal with them anymore or go to court, as I would have lost more money with the downtime and expenses than it cost me to just buy a new laptop.

I have an HP now from Circuit City. No problems.
And $1200 less than the Toshiba was, with more features!
