On July 29, 2007, my husband and I attended a sales presentation at Tahiti Village. Our appointment was for 10:00am and we arrived at about 9:50 am.

When we began the presentation, explained to the agent that we are not willing to bring our children to Las Vegas and therefore, if we made a purchase, it was important to us to be able to have the ability to trade it. We also stated that it would be possible that my husband and I would use a timeshare at Tahiti Village as a weekend getaway just the two of us.

However, it was extremely important that we didn't have to spend an entire week at a time there. That we could only get away for a few nights at time because it would not be convenient.

The agent and her manager promised that we would have high trading power with Interval International because of the location in Las Vegas. Further, that we could break up our week into 3 and 4 nights. We still were not sold at that point and so they offered us 6 free bonus vacations for two on top of our week so that we could go anywhere in the world we wanted with airfaire included. We were told that we could use the vacations to bring our kids along. Thus, we would be using 3 of our vacations to take the whole family to one destination and it would cover airfare and hotel accomodations.

We asked what the catch was. We were told that we would need to rent a vehicle if we chose, and pay for food and other tourist attractions. Also, that if we chose to purchase our plane tickets through a different travel agent that our accomodations package would change. Of course, we had no intention of purchasing our own airfaire when it was supposed to be included as part of the free bonus. That really was the deciding factor for us.

We told them we would like to purchase one week and how long the process was going to take because we were, of course, on vacation and we had lunch plans and tickets to a show. They told us it would take about an hour and they took my credit card to charge the down payment. The time at that point was just about noon and they moved us to another office to wait for the paperwork.

At about 1pm, my husband and I were starving. We told them repeatedly that the process was taking too long and that we had other engagements and needed to leave. We told them that this was our vacation time and we had slotted 90 minutes for the presentation. Our receipt states that our credit card was charged at 1:49 pm, almost two hours after it was taken. After nearly 6 hours we were still in the office being told that we would be done any minute.

The agent and manager kept stalling, telling us we were almost done. We told them we had lunch plans and tickets to a show which we had to cancel. We told them we were starving and that we wanted to leave and get our lunch so please give us our credit card back, but they gave us sandwiches and soda instead of our credit card.

In order to get through the paperwork faster, they had one spouse sign one set of papers and the other spouse sign the other set. They said this was because we were the ones in a hurry and they had a lot of paperwork to go through. We finally got our credit card when we signed the paperwork and at about 4pm we were allowed to leave.

At that point we felt very frustrated with Tahiti Village but we really wanted to make this arrangement work. The day after we got home we were supposed to get a welcome call. In the paperwork I had been very specific that I should be the one to receive the call and my number is the one that appears in the paperwork. For whatever reason, the welcome call was made to my exhausted husband who had driven all night. In my hands, I have a copy of the paper that specifically states that I should have been called.

My husband remembers parts of the conversation, but not all of it. I cannot understand why Tahiti Village would have disregarded our request.
Then, we tried to book our week at which point we were asked to pay a specific amount of money in fees. We paid it. Then a month later or so, Tahiti Village calls us saying there is a balance of those fees. My husband stated that we paid them and thus we were told that the first person gave us the wrong balance and that we still owe more money.

We were also told we couldnt split up our week, that we had to use it all at once. So we decided to cancel our week and trade for a vacation in Hawaii through Interval International.

I.I. told us that we couldnt "just trade" our week. That we were on a 1 for 1 exchange and that we needed to have someone in Hawaii want to trade their specific week for our specific week and that it would be difficult to find that since Tahiti Village is two miles from the strip and most people want to trade for a place on the strip.

We have also reviewed the information we received in the mail for the 6 free trips for two and found that they are completely useless. They do not include airfaire, the accomodations that are included are basic hotel rooms, not resort rooms like we were promised, and we cannot go anywhere in the world that we want to go. but have to choose from their specific destinations. On top of that we have to pay $117 dollar per person per day processing fees for each trip. Therefore, the 6 free trips including airfaire amount to over $1000 per trip, because they cannot be used in the manner stipulated during our presentation.

The vouchers are for some hole-in-the-wall travel agency that we've never heard of I wouldnt trust with a dime of my money and would not be able to travel comfortably believing that at any point I could be left somewhere stranded.

As far as customer service at Tahiti Village, nobody ever seems to know what is going on. Every time I have called with a question, I am transferred a minimum of four times.

For example, I invited my sister to go on a tour using SunShares. She was a perfect candidate to own a timeshare. She was treated so rudely by her agent she was sorry she ever went. However, when I called to see if her visit had been posted in our SunShares account, nobody had any idea. One person said we did not have a SunShares account (which I had opened myself).

Then I was transferred to someone who said we had an account with a zero amount. Which makes no sense because when you open a SunShares account you get $50. Then after speaking to two more people who had no clue, we gave up.

As you can clearly see, we have not been able to use our purchase in any of the ways that we specified were paramount. We feel that the agent and the manager acted on seller's best interest and neglected ours as the buyers.

Our agent had a fiduciary duty to either sell us a product that met our needs or to tell us the product she was selling did not meet our needs. Instead, she acted for her own benefit by saying anything to earn a comission. We deserved good faith, honesty, and loyalty.

Because the agent was representing the seller as well as us, the buyers, she had a conflict of interest which led to unethical behavior. The agent would only make commission if she sold us that particular timeshare. She may have been under the pressure for income, since we were told by her that she had to be retrained to improve her sales technique. I think is possible she may have been reprimanded for misrepresenting her product to others.

Both the agent and manager grossly misrepresented the positive features of timeshare. We were told we would get 6 bonus trips for two with airfare to anywhere in the world we wanted. We believed they would be reasonable accomodations- the type we said we wanted of during our sales presentation. They turned out to be free accomodations in substandard hotel rooms which we can upgrade for more money per guest. We have to pay airfaire through their travel agent and not interval international. We have to pay $5 per voucher for a processing fee on top of the $117 fees.

She did not look out for our best interest and did not warn us that we could be wasting our money in an investment that we could not use.

The agent as well as the manager made false promises with no intention of performing them. This is an intentional breach of fiduciary duty that constitues fraud. We paid for services that were misrepresented and now we cannot use them in the intention that we had specified was the exact motive for the purchase.

Important material facts went undisclosed and were blatant lies. We were told that we could split the week into a 3 and 4 nights' acommodations at the presentation, but when we tried to book it, the Tahiti Village reservations agent told us that this information was incorrect.

We had specified that the welcome call should be made to Ruth P**, put it in writing and gave her phone number. The call was made to William P*** who was at work at the time and could not ask the questions that Ruth had prepared.

Also, we were told that all we would have to pay is the cost of the timeshare as well as yearly HOA dues. We made sure to ask if these were all of the costs and we were told that there would be no further costs. Then in order to reserve a week we had to pay special assessments, which we paid.

Then months later we are told we still have an outstanding balance and as of yet, nobody at Tahiti Village can clarify why.

The oral statements made during the sales presentation were not consistent with what we were told we could do with our purchase. We have called Consolidated Resorts various times trying to get answers and resolutions to our problems. Nothing was ever done. A meeting was finally scheduled for December 10, 2007 by Consolidated Resorts to answer our questions, clarify all of our concerns, but the meeting never took place. Nobody ever called us.

I even took time off work in order to be present for the call which never came.

the above is the letter we sent to Consolidated Resorts. Since then, they have assigned us a lawyer, that ignored everything that was in the letter and chose to send us copies of our signatures, letting us know that we signed for it, and we have to live with it. What he failed to address is we have WRITTEN PROOF of the lies that they told.

I am now looking to pull anyone involved with Consolidated resorts together so that we can find a lawyer that will listen to a group of us for a class action lawsuit. This madness must end now.

WITH ALL OF THE POSTINGS ON THE RIP OFF REPORT, PEOPLE ARE STILL FALLING FOR THIS TIME SHARE SCAM?

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 16, 2009

William pellegrini --THE ONE I HAVE HEARD OF IS A WELL-KNOWN AUTHOR AND PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR AND I CAN'T BELIEVE HE WOULD HAVE BOUGHT INTO THIS TIME SHARE MADNESS.MAYBE ANOTHER PERSON OF THE SAME NAME.. OR EVEN AN ALIAS. IF HE IS THE REAL GUY, I READ AND LEARNED A LOT FROM THE ONE BOOK HE WROTE THAT I DID READ MANY YEARS AGO.

THIS IS SUCH A RIP OFF.

THE AM RADIO STATION WHERE I USED TO HEAR THE TAHITI VILLAGE / CONSOLIDATED RESORTS ADS HAS REFUSED TO RUN THEM FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. THEY RAN TWO OF THE, ON THE LATE-NIGHT TALK SHOW. ONE WAS FROM SOME BROAD WHOSE SOLE CLAIM TO FAME WAS SHE PLAYED A JAMES BOND GIRL AND HER NAME WAS TANYA ROBERTS. THE OTHER AD WAS BY ROSEANN, THE NUT JOB WHO HAD THE LONG STANDING HIT SITCOM TV SHOW AND THEN SHE MUST HAVE GOT OFF HER MEDS AND HAD THE WORST FREAK SHOW LATE NIGHT SHOW I HAD EVER SEEN AND IT BOMBED REALLY BAD. HER ANNOUNCER LOOKED LIKE A HOMELESS HEROIN ADDICT...

THOSE ADS PROMISED ALL OF THIS FREE ROMANTIC TRIP IN VEGAS AND HIGH ROLLER TREATMENT OH YEAH AND TICKETS TO A HOT SHOW ON THE STRIP WHICH WAS PROBABLY JUST ROSEANN UNLESS SHE IS BACK IN TH E PSYCHIATRIC FARM OR REHAB OR WHATEVER...

THIS IS SO OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A RIP OFF...
I WONDERED WHY MORE HOMELESS PEOPLE DIDN'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE DEAL AND TAKE THE FREE VEGAS TRIP. IT SOUNDED TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE AND NOW I FIND OUT THEY DON'T EVEN PUT YOU UP IN THE ACTUAL TAHITI VILLAGE BUT THEY WANT YOU TO BUY A TIMESHARE YOU PROBABLY WON'T EVEN GET TO USE ANYWAY.

THE HELL WITH THESE PEOPLE. I WOULD HAVE WALKED RIGHT OUT THE MOMENT I FELT UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT IT AND MY CREDIT CARD -- IF I HAD ONE WOULD NEVER HAVE LEFT MY POCKET. I WOULD HAVE FOUND OUT HOW LONG IT TOOK YOU TO CANCEL A VEGAS REAL ESTATE PURCHASE UNDER THEIR COOLING OFF STATUTE AND I WOULD HAVE DONE IT AS SOON AS I GOT OUT OF THAT HELL THEY PUT YOU THROUGH.

THIS SOUNDS MORE LIKE A MOB SHAKEDOWN THAN A REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION.

My husband I very recently went to visit Tahiti Village and the property is amazing. We weren't impressed by the stars or the names associated, but more importantly, our specialist was amazing. She gave us all of the information we needed to make an intelligent decision and was more than willing to elaborate on anything we didn't understand.

We bought because we vacation quite a bit and it would be nice to take our children. Our payments are very reasonable. We too were offered trips, but they explained to us in the beginning that it would come from a different company and told us what our options would be.

Our specialist called us afterwards personally to make sure we were okay and to see if we had any questions. That was better than any follow-up call from the company. I think that people sign up for stuff that they don't completely understand and then when it doesn't work they way it should, they feel mistreated.

My advice is to continue to ask questions and don't sign ANYTHING until you are completely satisfied. There was no pressure for us to buy and we did it because it made sense for our family. I read these reports because I like to see what I am getting into. We are going to use our free weeks and we are very excited. There are several individuals that are involved and you should attempt to work with a different specialist to make sure you are getting everything you need.

Consolidated Resorts - Tahitti Village is trying to ruin my credit

AUTHOR: Derf - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 02, 2008

Update - I stopped paying consolidated per my lawyer and now they have put on my credit that I am 60 days late on a REAL ESTATE MORTGAGE. This is a vacation club not a real estate mortgage. Well guess what, my credit score dropped 95 points - from 725 down to 630 because of this and now I can not buy the house I wanted. These people are crooks. I knew something would come on my credit and I was perpared for a minor drop. My mortgage guy said being a delinquite on a Real Estate Mortgage is the worst thing for your credit.

Now I am going to sue Consolidated for the money invested, lawyer fees and the stress of ruining my credit.

This is exactly what happened to me. As I read this I felt that I could have wrote it.

AUTHOR: Derf - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 24, 2008

Wow, I could not believe this write up. It was like I wrote it myself. Everything that has happened to you happened to my wife and I plus more. We bought into Tahiti Village phase 2 back in 2006 and it supposes to be done in spring of 2007 per the contract. As you know they are just now opening it this month, August 2008. We were told the exact same thing about renting, exchanges and breaking down into smaller time frames.

We were also told that if we wanted to use the resort before phase 2 was done we would have to pay an additional fee. I spoke to a company reservation person on the phone and told her the dates I wanted. She then said that I needed to pay an additional fee before I could use phase 1 since I was a phase 2 owner. The sales department people told me that I could use phase 1 or phase 2 anytime I wanted. Well, I did not want to pay the additional but I thought, Heck I paid this much already, I might was pay what I need to use it. After I gave the woman my credit card number and authorized payment was when she told me that the dates I gave her were not available, I could not split my Royal Tahitian into 2 units AND that if I wanted to use phase 1, I could only request it 30 days out. This is totally ridicules. I told her what I wanted to do and the dates before I gave her payment. She should have advised me of this information before I paid but she did not.

Now here is where, I stand. I have stop payment and have gotten a lawyer. The lawyer has sent a letter to Consolidated Resorts stating why I stopped payment and demanding a full refund of all funds played. Consolidated has refused to acknowledged my lawyer and is now sending threatening letters and phone calls. If I do not pay they will garnish my wages and ruin my credit. If the company had delivered on everything that they promised, including the 6 free trips, I would still be paying them. I know that it is not a good deal but a Time share is what is. I knew that. I just never expected not to be able to use it at all.

Here is what I recommend. Get a lawyer, if you can not afford a lawyer look into xxxxx. You pay $29 dollars a month and can cancel anytime. It is an inexpensive way to get a letter out to Consolidated from a Lawyer. In my case I started with Prepaid and now do a lot of business with the firm that they put me in contact with.
Second go to the Clark County recorders website, I will put the link below and check out your deed. My deed is for an empty lot out behind Phase 2. The deed is worthless and it is against the law to issue false deeds. My lawyer researched this and found it to be true. He said that if Consolidated takes us to court for stop payment, we will win on the DEED alone, even without going into everything else.

Lastly, I am trying to start a class action lawsuit against these people, but I am having a hard time finding a firm that wants it. Plus there are a lot of people on here and Askexports.com that would partake but you can not get their emails to contact them directly.

If Consolidated Resorts have scammed you or ripped you off. Please post up here.

They also operate as Consolidated Orland inc. and Consolidated media

AUTHOR: Susan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 23, 2008

This company operates in Orlando as well, and they scam people with promised gifts if you take their 120 min. tour. Alan Thicke is the vice Pres. of Consolidated media and the spokes person for the timeshare sales. In Orlando they are selling at The Villas at Regal Palms. They use PDL marketing to call people and lure them in with fraudulant tactics. I have filed a complaint with Floridas State Attorney. I advise everyone do the same.

Consolidated Resorts - Saying Anything to Get a "Yes"

AUTHOR: Jch - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 08, 2008

My wife and I fell victim to the same questionable tactics. We were promised six all-expense paid vacations and of course received the same shoddy packet. Our sales representatives also assured us that Interval International had numerous resorts located along the coasts of North and South Carolina, which we asked specifically about. When our II catalog finally arrived several weeks after we had purchased a timeshare, the resorts in our area were very few!

I have already filed a report with the Nevada Better Business Bureau but got nowhere. I complained about the lack of notice of the five days to fill out a form to cancel our purchase. Of course, I signed all the paper work that was presented to me in a whirlwind but didn't have any idea what I was signing.

It was not until two weeks later that I noticed a paper in among all those that we received that mentioned the five days to cancel. I was NOT verablly notified of this opportunity, at least not to my recollection. Consolidated's legal department simply sent me a copy of the contract with my initials by that portion of the contract.

When we signed up for the free trip, we were told that this company was different because they would take "No" for an answer without pressuring the customer. After my wife and I said no, of course there was more items promised, the free vacations and the resorts in our state, that made my wife and I decide to give the timeshare a try. We bought Consolidated's property in Orlando. Now we are stuck owing 14,000 dollars for nothing but a big hassle. Don't fall victim to the same tactics that we did!!!!!

Consolidated Resorts and Tahiti Village Just got noticed by the FTC

AUTHOR: William pellegrini - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 14, 2008

Interesting that the FTC, after recieving my complaint, has taken notice of Consolidated Resorts and their deceptive sales practices. they are actually interested in people that have been sold a timeshare and then found that their deal was "not what they thought". Here's the email.

"Thank you for contacting the Federal Trade Commission. We entered the information you provided into our shared law enforcement data base. We share this data base with Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies. Attached is your electronic response, which includes your reference number. Any enclosures can be found at www.ftc.gov under Consumer Protection and Consumer Information section.
Information from consumers like you helps Federal, State and Local authorities investigate possible illegal practices and enforce our laws. Someone from the Federal Trade Commission or another law enforcement agency may contact you if they need additional information to help them in an investigation.
Please visit the FTC's web page, www.ftc.gov, to get free information to help you avoid costly consumer problems."

And their official response,

"Thank you for recent correspondence. The Federal Trade Commission acts in the public interest to stop business practices that violate the laws it enforces. Letters from consumers and businesses are very important to the work of the Commission. They are often the first indication of a problem in the marketplace and may provide the initial evidence to begin an investigation. The Commission does not resolve individual complaints. The Commission can, however, act when it sees a pattern of possible violations developing.

The information you have provided will be recorded in our complaint retention system. This computerized system enables us to identify questionable business practices that are generating numerous complaints and may be in violation of the law.

Thank you for providing information that may be used to develop or support Commission enforcement initiatives."

Sincerely yours,
Consumer Response Center

If everyone reported these things then timeshares wouldn't be such a ripoff! Let's get it together and start allowing our government to do the job we pay them to do.
