Today I notified clear channel network to advise them of a nationwide ad that promotes free information on foreclosed homes. I have no doubt that the ad will soon be pulled from all of their nationwide stations, as it is fraudulent.  According to the representative from Consumer Resource Network, that rambled on for 15 minutes re-inerating that their service was for a fee of $1.99 and each month there after, if not cancelled. And only that amount, I found out that they gave my account number to several other companies, which if you call, all have the same voicemail. Long story short $1.99 turned into 75.00+ in unauthorized charges.

#5 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Legit scam, is still a scam

AUTHOR: anonymous - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 01, 2011
I do want to start by saying that you are correct for the most part of most statements you have made. The commercial does in fact state, find out how to receive a free foreclosure list and the statement The free listing is on CRN'S website and it is free for 3 days. After 3 days the username and password expires is also true. Im not sure if you are currently an employee but if so you should have seen the recent script change at the end just before concluding with the customer that verifies the email address. This was just added this year, which directly relates to customers who never received their free list credentials due to a sales rep trying to rush them through the process and not giving the customer time to write the information down. Reps stating dont worry about writing it down, it will be in your email well if the rep doesnt write the email down correctly which was a huge issue, then the customer never receives what they called for.

That is just one of the problems with this company; from the very beginning they sold you, the employee, that the purpose of this company is to help people, when in fact, only a very select amount of people are actually helped. Ever notice why the speed of the pitch and "down tones" are really emphasized in training or why in the call center half the floor is sales reps and the customer service department is relatively small. They are currently outsourcing and letting more customer service reps go, why, because this company is all about making money quick. If it wasnt a legit scam, the company wouldnt have needed
to change their name multiple times, or have several names for the same product or service.

Did you know your company, Consumer Resource Network, also goes by the names of: Kohl Group LLC, Launchpad Communications, The Kohl Group,LLC, Home Buyers Network, Government Foreclosed Homes, Home Buyers Club just to name a few. I understand that you the employee has been sold the ideas of the
company, I once was too, but use your common sense to understand that this company is really about themselves. Ever wonder why some sales reps are still there, even though they constantly get QA'd out? If you are/were and employer then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

The recorded calls protect the company. Dont believe me; if a customer calls for a refund due to unauthorized charges, the recorded calls purpose is to hear if the customer agreed to the terms and conditions. Now it is true that the first 30 days the fees for the "upsells" are fully refundable, but the company is banking on customers forgetting to call back or not clearly understanding to call back. Now what is not always taken into consideration is how the sales rep pitched the terms, whether it be twisting some of the required language, or confusing the customer or speaking so fast and only emphasizing the benefits. So technically the customer might have agreed, but ethically the company has taken advantage of
the situation for the purpose of profit. If the recorded call somehow doesnt get recorded, then the customer receives a refund and any overdraft fees that may have occurred. No recorded call, no way to defend the company. If the transaction and business started out legitimate then defending wouldn't need to be an option. Just a thought.

Property Data

AUTHOR: Greg H. - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Our service provides data on approximately 400,000 foreclosures nationwide.  The data is updated weekly and is referenced from well over 100 sources.  Our data can only be as accurate as those sources.  While there may be errors, the vast majority of the data is accurate and valuable.  We screen our data for address accuracy with the USPS, delete properties automatically based on aging (even if still shown available by the source) and delete data that we become aware as faulty.  We are one of the most comprehensive sources for update foreclosure data in the nation.

#2 Consumer Comment

Regardless of billing questions...

AUTHOR: jackardi - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 20, 2010

The agents listed for individual properties typically had never had the property in question, and many agents commented on the frequency of these "odd calls". When cross-referenced with other online real estate listings, the crn website typically had incorrect information regarding the price, the size, and even the location of the property, with many listings missing that information entirely. The website has a disclaimer describing these "omissions," but the complete lack of any correct information is ridiculous. I was repeatedly told to "call back in a few days" when I attempted to secure financing through crn's partner company TruPro Home Solutions. I am concerned about them having my social security number; they seem more like a scam than any kind of practical business.

Consumer Resource Network is not a scam

AUTHOR: Bunche - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 10, 2010

The commerical says to call and find out how to receive a free foreclosure list. The free listing is on CRN'S website and it is free for 3 days. After 3 days the username and password expires. The site does not come with pictures.

The $1.99 is the shipping and handling for a free 30 day trial to the CRN Program. the program includes 50 mile radius of listing in state and zip code the consumer gives. On the listing the representative of the property and phone number is listed. On most of the listings type of property, how many bedrooms and baths as well as sq footage and price is listed. The listing are divided by cities. A buyers guide is included as well as information on a nationwide full service real estate company that partners with CRN, to assist with find and financing the purchase of the property. As well as a interactive website which includes pictures of the properties and neighborhood.

After 30 days in round number is fee is $40. Anyone can cancel this service. The consumer is told what day of the week and the date to cancel before inorder not to be charged the full fee. They are given the phone number also.

Most companies do try to sell you something else and so does CRN. Those extra products are sold on a trial as well and if you call and cancel before the cut off day you will receive a refund. All calls are recorded. Most people only half listen during the call (I think it was called rambling on). When they call back and hear themselves on the recording, agreeing to all the services and the extra billing they usually just hang up. It's funny none of the complaints mention all calls are recorded and that facts is stated right up front. If a representatives does not get a clear okay for billing the order is cancelled by the quality assurance department, once again not only recorded but listened too. That's how they have stayed in business for 15 years!!
