Absolute WORST experience I have ever had with a moving company... make that, with ANY company!! Everyone in this compnay are a bunch of unprofessional crooks!

It starts with a phone call from a salesman (after filling on online requests for moving quotes).  The salesman talks up Conway Vanlines... pretty much tells you everything that you want to hear- I should have known better!!!  He's trying to make a sale, so ALL LIES!!!  First lie... I ask about stairs- I did not have my moving to address when first speaking with him, I tell him it will most likely involve stairs, he tells me "That won't make a difference in the quote".  I thought it was odd, but he said it's what sets their company apart from the others!  Yeah, right!!

The problems started at pickup... I had VERY thoroughly completed my online inventory (small move... 1 bedroom and living room, few boxes, suitcases).  Nothing additional, no unusually large furniture.  When they picked up my stuff, said they could not fit my mattress and box spring in my allotted space!!  And if I wanted more space, would cist me over $1,000!!!!  HOW did this happen?!?  I gave them inventory of EVERYTHING... it was their underestimation that caused the problem, but I was the one who got screwed.  Ended up having them move my bed with no mattress.

About a week after they picked up my stuff, I get a call stating the driver is "en route.  Please answer all phone calls as the driver will be trying to contact you over the next couple of days".  I thought, great!  Only a week to get here?  Wow, was I WRONG!!  I attempted for the next NINE days to reach someone at Conway to try to get an ETA.  I wasn't looking for an exact time, but a call saying "well, he's in TX, will probably be at least 3 or 4 more days", is all I was asking for. (I had to start work, needed to make plans for delivery).  I sent emails, left messages- NOONE even bothered to respond to me.  ELEVEN times I attempted to call them,  Finally, one employee that must have a bit of a work ethic and conscience, returned an email stating that she had not heard from the driver and gave me his number.  So I called him.  Again.  And again.  Left messages.  never heard a word.  Called the main office and emailed again.  And again.  Never so much as a simple response.

Finally, NINE days after that call stating the driver was en route, I receive a call form the driver (this was Sunday).  He states he will be there "tomorrow", meaning Monday.  Monday comes and goes, I hear NOTHING.  He calls Monday evening and states he will be there Tues morning.  So I again have to take off work from a new job, lose money... and he NEVER shows up.  Doesn't call.  I call him, nothing.  Wednesday morning, as I'm driving 80 miles to work at another location, he calls and says he'll be to my place in 45 min.  I tell him that's a problem, as I won't be there. Sheron was the driver's name- incredibly RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL in the few interactions I actually did have with him.  I had previously made accommodations for the apartment office to let him in, so I informed him of that.  But I guess the office did not get my email, so while I'm at work (seeing a patient, so unable to even look at my phone), I receive SIX calls from Sheron and text messages such as "YOU NEED TO CALL ME ASAP", and also FOUR calls from the Conway office in Miami.  Funny, I couldn't get ANYONE to give me the time of day when it was my time and my concerns, but now TEN calls, 3 test messages when they can't reach me.  All in the course of 20 min (no exaggeration).

Oh, and on the call on Sunday, the driver informs me that I owe $300 additional for my stairs.  He states a flight of stairs is "7-10 steps" (WHAT?!?!  I've never even seen a 7 step flight of stairs!!), but nevermind that- right in the contract, it states that anything ABOVE the SECOND level will have a $75 additional charge. OK, that's fine.  I tell this to Sheron, and he says, no, it's $75 each flight of 7-10 stairs (even though I'm only on a 3rd floor, it has 39 steps).  I can't argue- he has my stuff.  Noone at Conway will return my calls/ emails when I question this.  So I pay the extra $300, even though it's completely NOT what was stated in the contract.

I get things situated and my apartment lets them in.  I come back from Denver and go into my apartment and just burst into tears.  Moving, new job... stressful enough.  But to have to deal with incompetence like this?!?!?  Too much to take.  I had put tarps down ALL over the apartment, except one area (spare bedroom and bathroom, where NO items were going).  There was mud all over the floor on the carpet where NO items were going.  they did not put my bed together.  They did not put the stand on my 60 inch flat screen tv or put it on the entertainment center (it was still in bubble wrap leaning against my couch).  I am a 110 pound woman, and I had to attempt to put this stuff together myself. Isn't that in the contract, part of what we PAY movers for?!??!  A panel of glass in my entertainment center was shattered.  My beautiful cherry dresser and nightstand have permanent water damage covering most of the tops of them.  Big chunk of wood taken out of one of the posts on my headboard.  Smashed box that said "FRAGILE" all over it.  I could go on and on.

Oh, to add insult to injury... one of them pissed in my toilet and didn't even bother to flush.  Lovely.

I have NEVER been treated so poorly by any company in my entire life.  I will be filing a claim for my damaged items and the additional charges for the stairs, but even if I do get some money back, that does nothing for the stress they put me through.
