My company made the mistake of hiring an IT company called CET (Cost Effective Technologies)about 2 years ago. Since then we found out they're also called floor99 and Firespring. So if your company is considering using them, think twice and then again.  By whatever name they're called, they are a bad deal for us, and they will be a bad deal for your company as well.

Since we started using them as our IT company, we've had to abandon a company standard of having information in the computer within 24 hours of performing a service. This is because the computers are down so much, it's impossible to do. With our previous IT company, it was never an issue. At least 5 times in the past 2 years, the computers have been down for 2-3 days at a time, making it impossible to get anything done. This is in addition to being down for a big part of the day, or 1 day, more times than I remember.

Work orders sent to CET get lost, or ignored: recently we had difficulties running reports for amost 3 weeks, 6 staff sent in work orders complaining about it, and when finally the director got involved, CET claimed nobody sent them anything. Here's an interesting note: as we found out to our misery, even if you write down the work order number you got from them in an automatic email, their support desk will claim it didn't go through. Too bad, so sad. For you.

We've missed grant deadlines because of computer problems, something to the tune of over $100,000 in two years. On more than one occcasion, CET screwed up the firewall settings so that important emails from places like the Department of Labor, the United Way, and our board of directors didn't get through. One time, this lasted for over a month and we only found out when the Federal government called to find out why we hadn't answered their emails. Not somebody you want to hear from, in that way.

Another wonderful thing is how many times we've gotten cut off from our servers, so that we think we're entering information into the computer, but it's not really being saved. I estimate that I've had to redo over 100 hours of work just of my own due to inforamtion disappearing this way. I know staff who've lost several days worth of work at a time, as well.

Another fun thing is that when you sign in in the morning, you never have a printer setup to print to. So if you forget, and just try to print, your stuff could end up God only knows where. You have to make sure you check which printer you're set up with each morning and select it as the default printer to be sure it's correct. Sometimes, we don't know why, even doing that doesn't help and you still can't get anything to print. THIS IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE. There are a lot of things like this that we've given up even trying to get fixed, and we've just resigned ourselves to continuing to have the problem.

So, if you're someone considering a computer copmany, do yourself a favor and save yourself. I hope the people in charge where I work ditch these people before it's too late for us.
