I had been a member with At Home since 01/27/2004, which is printed on my membership card & has been on every card that they sent me each year.

I appreciated the savings every year until I tried to buy my usual home renovation quota that I buy every year to justify paying the $180.00 yearly fee. I buy $500.00 worth of gift cards for Home Hardware, Home Depot & Canadian Tire saving 20% which is $300.00. We are still renovating & the savings are very helpful.

This time, due to financial difficulties, I had to put off buying them till the last minute. I phoned on the 26th of Jan., a day before my yearly membership ran out but found out that the reset date is different from my card & that it was actually on the 11th or 12th of January. I tried to explain that there was no way for me to know that & that all I had to go on was what was printed on my card but to no avail.

Over the next week or so I spoke to 2 or 3 managers on the phone & went through 2 email service reps that kept sending me NEW reply emails each time (so there was no continuity) telling me the same thing:
"Our records indicate as your membership started 1/10/2004, your reset date will be around the 11th. I do apologize that your membership cards state the actual billing date your account was first billed, but our system goes by the actual date you first enrolled into the program. I hope this information has been helpful. Please let us know if we may assist you further with this membership."

Finally I got fed up, accepted the bitterness of wasting my time, energy & $180.00 with this company & canceled my membership.

Cancelled without notification or explanation

AUTHOR: Casselman Ontario - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, August 07, 2011

My membership was cancelled around the same time - January 2011.  I'd been a member since September 2006 and regularly purchased gift cards for my own use (not to resell).  Suddenly, I received a new Capital One chip card and called My At Home to provide the new credit card billing info (membership fees had to be debited from the sponsored credit card company).  I received a call about a month later telling me that my monthly membership fee had been rejected by Capital One, and that my membership was being cancelled.  I contacted Capital One who informed me that no attempt had been made to debit the membership fees ... back to My At Home, who insisted they made several attempts without success.  So who's lying, who's telling the truth.  My At Home cancelled my membership, and I cancelled my Capital One card (after more than 10 years!).

My At Home was contacted several times afterwards because I wanted to know the real reason for the cancellation.  They provided a mailing address for their Customer Service department in the US (no telephone number though) and I promptly sent out a two page letter telling them what was done to me and asked for an explanation ......... 6 moths later, still no word!
