So you want to know the FULL story

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Thursday, July 03, 2014

The only "morons" on this site are ones who don't know what they are talking about and don't actually do any research.

So if you want to know the FULL story just do an Internet Search.  You will find several news articles on this.  Where if you read the reports you will realize there is something more.  This 73 year old did not just give away one muffin one day and get booted out the door.   He had a history of this and was actually given many warnings before the last incident where he was fired.

He knew the company policy and the consequnces if he continued to break them.  He had a choice, to stop giving away food, quit this "evil company" and find a resturant that allows him to give away food, or even start to pay for the muffins out of his own money.  He failed to do any of those things, and as a result he was fired.

His age or military status has nothing to do with this other than to say one thing.  If he was truly a "Vietnam Veteran" where was his honor when he was stealing food.  Yes, that is exactly what he was doing as until it is paid for it is the property of the resturant.  He might as well have put his hand in the register and taken out a few dollars.  The end result to the resturant is the same..a loss of a few dollars.

Even though there is a portion of the population that believe this.  It is not the job of any employee to start making their own policy(social or otherwise).  Perhaps this military veteran could have gone to his bosses and come up with a more formal program to help these people in need?

Then where do you stop.  Sure it is only a muffin..right?  Well that can't go very far.  So what if he gave him a burger?  How about a Chicken Dinner?  At what point would you say enough is enough?  What if one day 2 "people in need" came over can this guy give them both muffins?  How about 10 people?  How about 24 people?  What if all 24 wanted that same chicken dinner?  After all if it is right to give away one..what all of the sudden if you are following your same "social conscience" makes it not okay to give away 24 dinners?

Perhaps a bigger question is would you feel the same way about him if he came up to you on the street and forced you to give him $1 to pay for the muffin.  Not give you the choice...basically rob you of $1.  After all that is a miniscule amount not even enough for a cup of coffee at your favorite coffee location.  Or answer this...how many homless people do you pass every day?  How many of those do you actually give something to?  How much do you give to legtimate charities or chruches?

Ignore the morons here

It is irrelevant if this news report pertains directly to the OP or not. He is simply expressing his digust with the actions of Cracker Barrel and he has every right to do so, as evidenced by the fact his opinion has been published here. Cracker Barrel has a history of 'not so smart' decisions and I will continue to not eat there. Not because of this incident, but because I believe their food is pure crap. Hopefully, due the publicity surrounding this gentleman being fired, he has been offerd better employment with a quality employer.

Sounds like YOU violated company policy and now want to blame THEM...

No Ripoff, you were WRONG and aren't taking responsibility.  If you were REALLY wanting to help this "poor homeless gentleman" something to eat, YOU should have paid for it and NOT assumed it was okay with your employer.

If this wasn't you, but someone you know, the same applies to them. I'll continue to do business with Cracker Barrel.

THEY did nothing wrong and there is NO Ripoff here.

A question, since you mentiones a 73 year old "Vietnam Veteran" was fired, what was your point of mentioning his prior service.  Is it your contention he wouldn't have been fired if he wasn't a "Vietnam Veteran?"  Otherwise, why did you bring this up at all?
