I received a letter today from Credit Collection Services stating that I owed $410.16 for Comcast Cable. Considering that my Comcast account was up-to-date I decided to do some investigating and found there name already on the ripoff report. The letter itslef made me put 'scam' at the end of my search since they have a web site called Credit Reporting Alert. It reminded my of phishing attempts to get passwords or account information.

To my surprise though, this appears to be an actual company. Regardless I have done the following:

-Conducted a LiveChat session with Comcast

-Worked with them to find all accounts I may have had with them. Found out that I actually had a credit, yes a credit of $18.20.

-Now in the works of getting all the documentation mailed to me to dispute this charge.

However, I don't want to call them because I'm still afraid that they are a scam. I'm currently looking into ways of how to handle this through court as their claim has appeared on my credit report. My suggestion to others would first contact whoever they say they are filing a claim for. Get all the information you can from them and you may find that they actually have their own collections department that handles everything.

I'm now sure how this "agency" got my address or where they got their info but I would love to find out how in the world this even started. Below I have a censored transcript of the online chat I had with the representative for those seeking validity of claim:
