Beware! Be really careful using Cruise America. There is a lot of fine print in their rental contract. If you get in an accident, even if it is someone else's fault (and even if you can prove it with a Police Report) they will charge your credit card $1000. Allegedly they will return it eventually but be wary because I have been waiting 8 months and have not received a refund. I called and emailed them multiple times and it was like pulling teeth to get someone to reply (imagine a black hole / a place where everyone is nameless and unaccountable). Only after I complained to the BBB and other places did I get a response. Of course now they say they are "very responsive" since they finally responded after tremendous prodding.
Basically I advise you stay away. The aggravation of dealing with their service folks is reason enough to shop elsewhere.

Jim,
Obviously you have never dealt with Cruise America. Their "customer service" is a black hole where you get generic automatic replies to emails and you can't reach a real person in their "subrogation" department. I wouldn't wish that kind of customer experience on anyone. By the way, the contract stated that they are to return the $1000. 8 months later I have seen nothing and if I hadn't pushed them so hard to respond I am sure they would still be ignoring me today. Maybe that is OK in your world but not in mine. Terrible customer experience.

You admitted here you signed a contract and there were terms and conditions written in that contract. You are now surprised about this provision of $1000? Guess what? You admitted to agreeing to the terms of the contract when you signed it. Perhaps if you would have read what you were signing before you signed it, this wouldn't be a surprise! NO RIPOFF HERE -- Complainer agreed to terms of contract and apparently did not read those terms before signing.
