I applied and attended CTU Online in Nov 2006. I tried to withdraw from my first two classes but was not acknowledged. I passed one and flunked the other because the teacher would not accept the 6th assignment which would have given me an incomplete. I had to repeat this class. In March 2007 they informed me I was 3 months late on a cash agreement payments. I knew nothing about any cash agreement. It took two months of being ignored to finally find out they put additional classes on me and expected me to sign and pay on this agreement or be locked out of classes. I got it removed and told them to never do it to me again. I then was going on vacation and asked to not be given classes. They gave me college algebra. I was overseas and did not have internet. On one occassion I finally got access but could not sign in. In a chat with tech support I explained my previous request. He was no help at all. I got back in time to finish my class but they withdrew me from my class and school. I got back in two days after I could get an incomplete and was forced to finish on time or take it over. I finished. Then they put another cash agreement on me. I refused to sign it again. They gave me three different amounts to pay for three different reasons and have now turned me over to a collection agency that calls me daily. I told them I would not ever pay it because I was not informed of any agreement prior to them putting it on me. I never signed it and will not pay!

CTU is Nationally and Regionally Accredited

AUTHOR: Omar - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 15, 2011

I find one thing to be very true. Those that complain were expecting an easy ride to a degree. Those that compliment the school know how much harder it is, the discipline that it takes, to sit in front of a computer screen for many hours at a time, researching a paper, preparing it, and putting it together in order to get a good grade. Anyone will tell you that attending an online school is much harder than the traditional brick and mortar school. I've been with CTU for over 2 years now and will graduate soon. The education I received so far trumps any other online school as I've read reviews and personally know others who have attended those well publicized schools (i.e. Phoenix, DeVry, ITT Tech) and all they have are complaints. No interaction with professors or even live chats. Don't cry, study hard and work for it!!

Oh yeah, and one more thing for those who really do believe an online school is easy compared to the traditional ones. Try submitting a paper and have it pass the originality verification tool (OV). Not only does this effective tool go a step further in monitoring plagiarism but it also helps identify those students who wish to use someone else's work in place of their own.

I have graduated from CTU and in the months since I received my degree I have been heavily recruited by many large organizations in both the government and private sector.

I have interviewed for companies such as Lockeed Martin and impressed some of the best companies in my industry in my opinion with my Info Sec knowledge and I have started a great job as a Information System Security Consultant for the Federal Government.

I am willing to accept that there probably have been many students that have had problems in for profit schools but I have only had an all around wonderful experience.

In my opinion the 35k that I owe is nothing compared to the near 65k that I paid for my AS at a public school.

I spend an excess amount of time outside the class room on the phone and online with many of my instructors and in the additional LABS that are offered at no cost developing my skills in area's such as Advanced JAVA so maybe I just made the best of it.

I have never had as much support from other schools as I do still at CTU and I am currently considering returning for my MS.

I am not an employee if you wish to contact me by E-mail regarding the school I will provide you with any information you would like about my experience.

Please Don't Spam with BS (((ROR redacted)))

I Believe college is what you make of it, if they offer extra labs extra coarse work or added activities sign up. It is my opinion that you can have a good or bad experience at any School and it's up to you to take the extra step. The opportunity is available to you at CTU.

Thanks,

Mike

AIU Graduate

AUTHOR: Kraycain - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 05, 2008

I graduated from AIU with my Associates and Bachelor's and am starting my Master's program with CTU in April and I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. I don't know what any of these other people are talking about. I have never had trouble with my financial aid, they have always gotten me the most financial aid so that I don't have to pay that much for loans, and their staff has been very professional and pleasant to deal with. Perhaps these people have a grudge of some sort and they are trying to drag them through the mud for something that they themselves have done, like failing. University of Phoenix is the rip off school if any. I would highly recommend both AIU and CTU to anyone. All the other comments are bogus.

To Mike about CTU Online College

AUTHOR: Karen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 06, 2008

In response, what I said was in March they told me about a cash agreement that was due the December before that and that I was overdue on payments. That was the first time I ever heard about it. It took 4 months for them to finally tell me what it was about. Then they took it off. They had added it because they added classes to me without consulting me and without me agreeing to it. They DID NOT have my signature. That one was resolved, I told them to never do it again. They did. I was not consulted again. I did not sign it again. They changed their story 3 times about what the agree was for and the amount of it.

CTU is a degree mill.

The corporation that bought CTU is now selling and closing some of it's campuses leaving thousands without schools. This corporation has run it's schools into the groud after recently buyinh them a few years back.

CTU is legitimate

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 24, 2008

I attended CTU Online from the fall of 2004 until June of 2006, receiving my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration / Management. The school was challenging, the workload was significant and there was CERTAINLY no indication that the school was any kind of degree mill. One of my instructors was one of the authors of the textbook for the course (which was published by a major academic publisher). So I have to disagree with anyone who says the school is not legitimate.

CTU Online College

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 23, 2008

I have been a student at CTU for 2 1/2 years and while they have had some bugs to work out with the system since it first started I have nothing but good things to say about the overall experience.

I am not paid by CTU nor do I think they are by any means perfect but they do a great deal of things that can benefit a student.

They provide you with a large collection of software to start with a copy of Windows XP a full version of Microsoft office professional edition and a great deal of other full versions of expensive software as you need it for future classes depending on what your area of study is.

I have news for all anyone that mentions getting kicked for not paying bills or being behind on payments this happens at every single university in existence you can not go to any class if your behind on your bills period. It doesn't matter if it is Harvard or MIT you don't pay you can't go to class.

As for failing a class because the teacher would not accept the 6th if you where trying to turn in your minimum 6th assignment for an incomplete as is required for standard CTU incomplete the teacher does not have to accept anything after the original due date it is at there own discretion some simply will not accept anything if it is a minute late to me this only helps improve the validity of the university they don't care if you fail you have to earn it.

In your post you mention being late on a cash agreement at CTU you have to at the very least E-sign a cash agreement to have one which means you signed an official document that stated you agreed to pay x amount in x amount of time this is a contract just like any other and once you sign it you are expected to pay it and if you don't you violate the contract.

If you refuse to pay your cash agreement you need to come up with other means to pay a private loan or other method or you simply cannot attend.
It is standard for any university on the planet you must pay your bills.

The online program at CTU is not a self paced program you have to keep active and punctual to keep up on things and it is not the right school for people who don't have 20+ hours a week to put into it.

I have been a student at several state colleges and got degrees from them and CTU to me was much harder than these schools.

It is a fact that you do not take tests or blindly memorize things that you are tested on but this is not the best way to learn.

At CTU you must do in the software engineering program if you cannot program or actively build and reverse engineer the software you do not get a grade. In schools I have went to in the past I took tests had set things I had to do that everyone else did and it did not teach me to think and act on my own.

In my time at CTU I had to think on my feet and build software systems and programs on my own and each student that did the work each had a unique way of doing things that made working with them increase the learning process even further the experience.

I have had published business professors that lectured at Harvard and highly sought after SANS institute instructors that teach security technology all over the world in my time at CTU.

There are Clubs such as the sports club that have had professional athletes speak about their careers and industry guru's such as Steve Jobs speaking in the Tech Club Meetings. This is all extra keep in mind but it is an added part of the college experience that I would not have gotten at any other School I could attend.

I am happy with my time at CTU and yes it was not cheap but it was a great experience for me and I would recommend it to anyone.

It is a business all schools at the college level are to some degree but they provide a great place to learn and a wonderful community that you will remain apart of long after you graduate.

Thanks,
Mike
