Howard Allen/Custom Gate System Inc. mismanages money and employees not being paid on time, makes excuses (we've heard of 16 so far--out of town, backlogged, broken equipment--trailer, welder, missing tools, bolts; backlogged vendors they deal with, problems with employees and other jobs--the excuses basically showed they were lying), we were told the job would be done in 2 to 3 weeks if we paid money up front--their terms, 3.5 months later we still are waiting to get the job installed. Installer doesn't know what they are doing--not their regular job, we have had to hunt down these people, broke water pipe without repairing it, told us after-the-fact that homeowner needs to map out all of the plumbing (we were not told that and we didn't know what the prior owners had done with plumbing/irrigation). They also burried spliced wired wrapped in electrical tape and after we told them they needed to use a water tight box they burried the box and put a hole that would allow water to penetrate. There are a lot of other problems with what should have been a routine installation. These people wanted to be on the job site without us being present, but there were too many problems to have them on the site alone.

 After all the problems with Howard Allen and his employees, I was told that he was using the money to pay employees and for jobs that he'd already spent the money so he needed to use other people's money to pay for older jobs.

The gate wasn't made to the proper size as was originally agreed to.  They had to redo it.  Also there were additional problems with the finished work, buy I would never rehire them or have them fix the damage.

They didn't deliver according to their contract with me.  The gate that was redone wasn't treated properly so the gate is now rusting.  The gate wasn't hung correctly per another gate company, so the gate was too heavy for the hinges, which bent.  The electric box with the emergency key entrance rusted.

As I said, I would NEVER do business with this jerk or his employees.  He always acted so  innocent and as though I was the problem, but let the record speak for itself and see the other complaints...

Since the job from Custom Gate was done, I had to call another gate company to repair & rewire the gate because it wasn't wired properly.  The gate has to be lubed even though I was told nothing had to be done.  The gate stopped working when it rained, so that had to be fixed.  The gate is rusting even though it was coated--cheap job...  I would definitely NOT Recommend this company.  Several people have called me and cancelled their jobs because of my experience.  They were already seeing the handwriting on the wall.

We did indeed have difficulties completing this project and understand the customers concerns and frustrations. We fabricate and sell a lot of gates and on occasion there is that job that nothing goes right or as planed.
This job was completed and is covered under warranty should there be any other issues.
