- WIll offer a FREE CD "Just pay shipping of $1.99"

- Then when you check your account the following month there is a $47 charge.

- When you call them the sales guys are trained like little puppets to say "Somewhere in the CD we sent it tells you that we will be charging your account $47 unless you contact us and tell us not to".

- They also say "I'll take care of unsubscibing you right now" before you even asked to be unsubscribed because they know it is a scam!!!

- When you ask how many people have been scammed like this they kindly just hang up on you!

- Most of the sales staff are washed up Realtors or Mortgage Brokers starving for money so I guess when you get that desperate you'll work for anyone saying anything you can.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Always read the terms and conditions

AUTHOR: Helixcat - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 16, 2009

Although I empathize with Re Investor, I've learned by experience to ALWAYS read the terms and conditions of all internet offers. There's usually a link at the bottom of the page. If there isn't one, then I quickly close the page and go elsewhere.

On the Terms and Conditions page for the offer in question (offered by Neighborhood Solutions), it is is clearly stated that either a $47 or $97 monthly charge, as applicable, will be assessed starting 30 days after the initial S&H charge for the "free" merchandise. It also states that not reading the Terms and Conditions is not a bsis for legal action. Nothing hidden there, EXCEPT for the fact that there is no warning anywhere on the offer page that you need to read them!

Yet, what I AM cautious about is the amount of the charge hold placed on my credit card along with the initial S&H charge! That is usually not disclosed. What the hold does is to lock up a fixed amount of your funds (particularly important for debit card accounts) making them inaccessible to you. And even though the hold will be released after you submit a cancel request, it can take several weeks for it to be processed!

I placed a call to the contact number for Neighborhood Solutions (813-689-2300) to inquire about the amount of the charge hold with their latest "free" offer, and reached an answering machine. I was informed me that my call would returned within 24 hours. Should I not receive an answer within 24 hours, I would be most interested in any other folks' experiences with this company.
