EDITORIAL COMMENT (4/20/2020): WARNING ABOUT POTENTIAL MISIDENTIFICATION – “DEAL EMPIRE” VS. “THE DEAL EMPIRE”

Consumers,

As you are aware, Ripoff Report is a forum “by consumers, for consumers” which means that, unless clearly indicated (e.g., this Editorial Comment here) we don’t write the posts or otherwise verify the accuracy of the them.  It would be impossible for us to do so.  That said, people should be aware that it is possible for consumers to misidentify a business – especially when business has nearly identical names and/or domain names.

In this instance, consumers have made multiple reports on Ripoff Report naming “Deal Empire” suggesting that something (usually an article of clothing) was ordered online, the person was charged for it, and they didn’t receive the merchandise paid for.  HOWEVER, a representative from “Deal Empire” has reached out to us advising that they believe that their company (“Deal Empire”) has been mistakenly confused with “The Deal Empire” and “thedealempire.com.”  “Deal Empire” doesn’t appear to currently be connected with selling products.  As a reference, it was explained that Report No. 1338900 naming “Deal Empire” suggests that there was an advertisement on Facebook offering a “slimming panty.”  We searched Facebook for “The Deal Empire” and found a Facebook Page, listed as being created August 6, 2016, which sells various products, including “Slim Panties” and uses the domain “TheDealEmpire.com”.  Further, there were comments made on the Page that were similar in nature to the Reports posted on Ripoff Report.  Furthermore, if you were to search “The Deal Empire” on Ripoff Report you will find an abundance of Reports similar in nature to those, like here, naming “Deal Empire.”

Based upon the foregoing, it is possible (and arguably highly likely) that the authors making posts about “Deal Empire” on Ripoff Report back in 2016 and 2017 actually meant to name “The Deal Empire” and “thedealempire.com” instead.  Ripoff Report is not a judge and jury to determine facts nor can it materially alter content created by our users.  As such, the best we can do is WARN consumers about the potentially misidentified business and hope that they will conduct their own research to be sure they are attributing the right information to the right business.
