Denver School Of Massage Therapy The biggest mistake I ever made............ Westminster Colorado

 I will say this once for all and then you can decide for yourself if you want attend to this school.  If you want to be a Massage Therapist you better do your research and homework before signing those papers. Do not do what I did... After I had decided I wanted to be a Massage Therapist I went to this school in Westminster, CO to attend in the fall of 2009 and graduated in 2010. I was a fool for not researching harder and following my dreams, instead I signed up for this program and let them sweet talk me and tell me what I wanted to hear! After going through some of these classes, I noticed the instructors are horrible and rude, I regret giving them my money the way they don't teach right or act. But I won't get into all that because it doesn't really matter anymore. The price of this school is outragious and expensive to obtain only a Certificate, your better off getting a Nursing degree, Occupational or a Physical Therapy Degree and then use this method as a Massage Therpist as a fall back if you can afford 2 schools like that.  This school will tell you that you can work anywhere after your National Certification Exam you have to pass first and then your set. Wrong!!! Your not set, there are many things you have to look forward to, you won't be able to get hired that quick, when they advertise their website and posters on their walls of the beautiful places to be employed at, it's all dream to dream about!!!

The Cruise Lines-- A friend of mine worked on a ship as a Massage Therapist, after 6 months she devloped Rheumatoid arthritis and carpel tunnel in her hands so badly she couldn't hardly work anymore after 2 years of practice, after the next ship out she returned home and never went back to work in the field.  The cruise lines will make you work 12 hr shifts, you are working 12-13 massages deep tissue on people all day, you get a 10 minute break and 30 min lunch, you wake up when they tell you, you go to work when they tell you, you will work your butt off "literally".. those of you who want to work in the cruise lines, look into it before making that decision, it might pay somewhat decent but your body will be hating you...

Resorts-- When they tell you in class you can work at any beautiful places like high end Spas and top 5 star resorts, cruise ships, they fail to tell you that won't get hired into those companies anytime soon after graduation, once I had found out it was impossible to get hired anywhere as a intern overseas and islands like Costa Rica or the Bahamas because of lack of expierence and they only want Therapist who have had atleast 10 years of expierence, they don't hire interns or newbie's fresh out of school. They want to see you have practiced and worked somewhere for awhile, try 5 years atleast and then you can try. So I had decided to try Las Vegas after the Master Bodyworker Program, I thought I could land a cool job at MGM Grand Resort with that being said that was a waste of my time also going to Masters Program and spending another $4,000  too expensive and it is not worth the money to even go there. I had applied to most of the casino resorts to the high end spas, they ALL had told me that you have to "know" somebody who works in the casinos or the hotels itself and have atleast 5 years of expierence. It wasn't what you KNOW or how good you are with bodywork, it was all about "WHO" you knew, that is the way it is in Vegas... If you don't believe me, ask them, send your resume and see what happens unless your lucky and you know someone who is a manager there and get you in. Vegas resorts are packed with 500 to 10000 applications per day, everyone wants to go to Vegas and work there! After Denver School Of Massage Therapy  had lied to me on many occasions it was impossible for me to work a dream job and make a ton of money.

I am in 20,000 in debt with student loans from this school... I am getting some help with it now. Thankfully, but I blame myself also for not looking more into this before making a horrible decsion on a worthless education like this and getting ripped off from the whole idea and lied to......

Denver School Of Massage Therapy with Steiner Education Group are a big SCAM school and they are only out for your money, they don't care if you can't get licensed or find work, the only dead end places you can work at is Massage Envy or a local small spa who needs therapists badly, you have to be careful of those places too, renting a booth, commission pays only, they can rip you off in tips, your pay, of Oh by the way, I've worked at Massage Envy and Elements Massage, which are mall chains.  It was pretty horrible, an assembly line, low pay $15/hour to start and  you're always "expecting" that $10 tip.  You only get about 45 minutes of table  time; the rest is spent interviewing, paying, changing, etc.  They hire anybody  with a massage school diploma, basically.  You don't get to really develop a  relationship with the client because of the turnover.  Some do, but it's hard.   Most of the therapists are very young, right out of school, kind of immature, and wouldn't know how to deal with a serious injury or illness unless it's really obvious.  You get what you pay for. After going through a Master Bodywork Program you should be making atleast $20 to $50 an hr.

Better off to go to a private  therapist and develop a relationship so they get to know your body and your  needs.  In the long run, you get more for your money. But you have to get clientele build up and keep people coming to you, with this ecomony today it is slow these days people can't always afford a massage.

 had decided to move to California and went back to school, I graduated this year and now I am working for a company that is in demand and I am making much more than I ever did, my body doesn't hurt, my hands feel great and I don't have to work as hard to meet my needs. This is not a message of hate, this is a message of regret, and I am only passing this along to those who thinking of going to Denver School Of Massage Therapy whether it's either Westinster or Aurora campuses, your better off going to less expensive school that will teach you the same or more you need to know to become a successful therapist! Do not do what I did, and get yourself into debt.. Go with your heart and follow your dreams!!!
