One Sunday in 2013; I was introduced to Maria Rivera-Ortiz in the Church where I used to go. Rivera-Ortiz told me she was an Immigration attorney. I then told Rivera-Ortiz about my immigration problems for the last 15-years.
Rivera-Ortiz told me she had serious connections with Immigration Judges in Boston and Immigration officials and had great connections with other INS officials also in Boston which could get my immigration case dismissed, the case would be processed fast and that she would get me a green card in no time.
I clearly told Rivera-Ortiz I already had an INS case pending and was pending deportation proceedings but Rivera-Ortiz assured me that she had helped many other illegal aliens like me solve their cases and to enter and reside in the United States without any problems and that all she needed to was to have one her Judges friend sign a couple of forms and that was it. [continued below]....
Rivera-Ortiz asked for me to pay her $10,000, in cash because she said she needed to give some of that money in cash to the INS officials. One week later I paid Rivera-Ortiz the $10,000 she asked for in cash which she claims would be enough to resolve my case. I trusted Rivera-Ortiz very much and all she did was to screw me out my money and I have no way to get it back.
Rivera-Ortiz also told me that she could remove any documents from, any immigration files, such as the (A-files) like in my case.
Rivera-Ortiz said that to get my immigration case fixed she would have to pay the officials with cash and expensive gifts. Rivera-Ortiz also said that in some of the cases she resolved she gave an official a vacation in the Bahamas and to other immigration officials, she has given them computers and television sets and thousands of dollars in cash and that was the reason she needed my money in cash.
Rivera-Ortiz indicated that in cash there is no trace back to me and for me to make sure not to go out on the streets too much just in case I get arrested before she takes care of the case and that she will let me know the good news in a couple of months.
Rivera-Ortiz warned me to be careful not to tell anybody about our deal because I would get in trouble with the law and I will never get my green card.
One day I drove all the way to Boston because Rivera-Ortiz asked me to meet her at the INS court. I waited almost half a day and she never swowed up. I called her repeatedly. Two days later she called me back to tell me that her car broke down and had to take it to a mechanic and tht is why she did not meet me in Boston. I lost one day of work because this woman lied to me somuch.
After trying to reach Rivera-Ortiz for several months I found out Rivera-Ortiz had also taken $6,000 from another Salvadorian guy I met and that she had told him the same story she gave me. They guy told me that Rivera-Ortiz was a liar that she was just some kind of ambulance chaser that she is not any immigration attorney and the she doesn’t know any Judges.
Eight months later, I found out everything that Rivera-Ortiz told me was a lie. Rivera-Ortiz turned out to be just a Divorce lawyer that has a lot of problems with her clients and that no one wants to deal with. After many months trying to get my money back from Rivera-Ortiz I went to see an attorney to find out what my chances were of getting my money back from Rivera-Ortiz.
The attorney told me that because I am an illegal alien I better leave that alone because I could get arrested and make my case even worse. The attorney also told me that he had already heard stories about Rivera-Ortiz stealing money from illegal aliens.
He said that what Rivera-Ortiz does is corruption by soliciting bribes from aliens in exchange for immigration benefits like fraudulent admission stamps to citizenship and that Rivera-Ortiz tells people that she pays officials of the INS to get the immigration benefits by assisting aliens bribe INS officials in submitting false and fraudulent immigration petitions to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
My name is Alvaro; I am an illegal immigrant in the U.S. I came from El Salvador when I was 10-years old. I have two teenaged children which were born in the U.S. my wife dies of cancer two years ago.
Maria Rivera-Ortiz is a fraud, a scam artist and a thief. Do not listen to what this woman has to say…She is a malicious and despicable liar. If you hire this woman might as well play Russian-Roulette with five-bullets in the gun.
