My complaint is against the Document Processing Center (Toll Free: (800) 291-9041 Ext: 1040 Direct: (949) 416-2602 Fax: (888) 509-8210) and the Student Loan Servicing (Processing Department 19800 MacArthur Blvd. Ste 300 | Irvine, CA 92612 Tel 888-216-3547 | Fax 855-803-8160. Looking back I should have seen the clues, they call and can be reached at different numbers and addresses.  My bank statement shows STUDENT LOAN RESOURCE C 800-2624765 CA, for the $599.00 payment they took.  I was desperate to get rid of this student loans as quickly as possible and missed all the signs.

I received one of their fliers and called them. I spoke to Nicolas Carter at the Document Processing Center. He told me that my monthly payment would a little lower, but where I would be saving money is that the term of the loan would be less than my current one. I went along with it. I spoke to my husband and he was not comfortable because they wanted to put me in an income based program and I was unemployed at the time. I sent an email telling him that I was not interested and my concerns and he told me not to worry about it, I could get into a standard program once I go back to work.

So I go on with the process and I am getting letters almost every month from my current provider stating that the loan is behind and not in forbearance, so I call Student Loan Servicing Center and the send out the deferment/forbearance form. The entire process started in May and still was not complete in November when I called to cancel.

End of October I received a letter from Novient, they are actually the ones hired by the Board of Education to process this consolidations. The letter said stated that the new terms of the loan would be 240 months and a payment of $250.00/month. My current pay is $210.00 and the remaining term is 177 months. I called them to confirm this information and it was correct. The lady I spoke with also told me that this consolidation process does not require a third party and I could have done this on my own.

I call the Student Loan Servicing Center to find out what is going on and the woman that answers the phone is completely rude. I tell her I want my money back. I paid them $599.00 to increase my term and payment. That defeats the purpose of a consolidation. They told me I had 30 days to get my money back and that they have done a lot of work on my loan. A part of their contract states that if I am not satisfied with their services, I can get my money back, but they are not honoring this. Why would I pay someone to increase my payment and terms?

I really would like them to make this right by giving me back the $599.00 I paid, and they should pay the interest that I received during the time my current loans were in forbearance/deferment. But I would be happy with the $5990.00 back. I am not saying that they do not help people, but they should say we cannot help you and move onto the next. Rather than wasting my time and money. They need to make this right.
