Former Dragonfly Student

I attened Dragonfly for 12 months and then went on to excell professionally. I completed college and went on to work my way into an executive possition in a successful company. I have so much gratitude for the folks at Dragonfly. They helped me turn my life around.
Not every student that comes to Dragonfly is ready and willing to do the work, but Dragonfly provides support and boundries to support growth.
I will forever be grateful for the differance that Mona and Glenn and all the staff made in my life. I have several friends who completed the program and have gone on to living rich and meaningful lives.
As a side note, I do think that turn over is pretty normal in this type of work. Compassion Fatigue is a real thing, but there are people that stay for years.
I have two kids of my own and down the road if they needed intervention I'd love to get them to Dragonfly.

I also went to this program. It was well put together and it changed my life. You can't force people to change if they don't want to, but dragonfly does a good job motivating people to make better life choices. I have kids now and if they ever needed this kind of intervention I hope there is a program like dragonfly available.

Student Who Attended Dragonfly

I guess I agree and disagree with what this person posted. I was a student at Dragonfly Transitions in Klamath Falls, Oregon for 9 months. This was my final treatment center (I was in a total of 5 for a total of 2 years)... Needless to say, I was done with treatment and did not want to do anything else to improve myself.
In response to staff turnover and their experience:
My mentor, Meghan, had been there for about 3 years and she was getting her MASTER'S DEGREE. Other staff members that I knew well had been there about 2-3 years. I do not know where your information is coming from, probably as a parent, but I was there and lived there for 9 months straight, and so I believe I know better than you do.
In response to "success stories" and your child's success at Dragonfly:
I knew personally, and was good friends with SEVERAL people who graduated and are doing well outside of treatment. Dragonfly is also one of the few young adult treatment centers that has phases 3 and up to prepare a student for the "real world". I knew several people who got their own apartment, got a job (and kept it), went to college part-time, had a healthy relationship with a boyfriend/girlfriend, attended therapy regularly, and stayed sober and active in their recovery WHILE attending Dragonfly Transitions.
In response to Klamath Falls as a town:
Yes, the town does suck. However, there are reasons why Glenn and Mona decided to put Dragonfly in this area. Some of the reasons are that it is not a college town and so we young people will not get distracted by other normal kids in the real world. There are GREAT people in Klamath Falls. Yes, many people are meth addicts and homeless; but did YOU live there? I attended NA and AA 12-step meetings while in Klamath Falls and they had a strong NA community where I met some very dedicated people. If you try, you can find ANYTHING wrong with EVERY treatment center and where it is located.
In response to Dragonfly Transitions "working" and changing your child:
YOUR CHILD IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO. There is no amount of therapists, mentors, or towns that are going to have the power to change a young adult. NONE. It is entirely up to your child to give it the effort and actually try to change their actions/thoughts/behaviors/relationship with parents.
In response to Glenn and Mona "kicking" people out:
Yes, they have kicked people out. For very good reasons. K2 or spice, is a synthetic type of marijuana that has a similar effect but doesn't show up on drug tests (which kids are required to submit to random drug tests). So, many people who are not invested and don't care about their treatment choose to use K2 or spice and then get kicked out. So, I would say that it is the kids own fault entirely that they got kicked out, not Glenn and Mona's.
In response to Glenn and Mona:
These are some of the NICEST people I have EVER met. I don't know how you can sit here (AS A PARENT), and say that Glenn can't stay on task and doesn't provide mentoring. First of all, he is NOT even a mentor. Second of all, Glenn is busy day in and day out actively working with students and connecting with them in different ways. He also takes students to the gym EVERY DAY. Mona genuinely cared about me while I was at Dragonfly and liked to check in with me periodically (even though I wasn't her therapy client).
So, in conclusion, I would just like to say that maybe you should try and experience going to treatment and see how you act and see how you like being away from home for 6 MONTHS.

my child spent 6+ very long months at Dragonfly and we were totally disappointed in all areas! It starts at the top with Glenn White not being able to stay on task and providing NO Mentoring!! Their turnover in staff is incredible, no one seems to stay for more then 1 year. In talking to other current and former students, we found no success stories while my child was there. So many kids either leave on their own or Mona and Glenn kick them out!
