I'm a single mom of 4 who took my paycheck into Drivetime to purchase a car. The Sales people were very shady and pushed me into a van that broke down and the motor went out the same week I purchased it on Thanksgiving Day. Then told me that the warranty that I had just purchased would go toward fixing the motor in a van that I had only drove for a week. The kicker is that if I would have allowed then to used the warranty to fixed the motor then if the motor went out again it would not be covered I the future,, That's funny why should I pay for repairs on a van that I had just got.

So I was told they would allow me to come into the dealership and pick another car. They lied when I made it into the dealership I was told that I was not going to get my down payment back and this big ugly gas guzzling van was drove up to the front door of the dealership and I was told to take it or leave it and there would be no refund. I sure that I'm not the only person who Drivetime has down this to. I was at the dealership with my 4 kids with no transportation and I felt trapped because they had taken my money. Which meant that if I didn't take the van they drove up to the front door then I would be without transportation an no money, Drivetime has no heart and they don't care about their customer.

To drive this van was $300.00 per month in gas and another $273.00 for car insurance. and they were charging me $365.00 per month for the car note in other words I was paying almost a $1,000.00 per month not to mention that it broke down at least  3 times while I had it. This was truly a nightmare. So I returned the van to them because with this van they forced me to by because would give my money back after the first van motor went out in 1 week. Each time I called Drivetime to tell them the problems I was having with the van they would get smart and say you signed contract knowing fully well that they pushed me into contact. So I gave them the van back.

I parked in front of my house and told them to come get it because it was causing me a financial burden. They then had the nerve to place it on my credit for almost $12,000.00 but they claim they only sold it for $2,000.00, The knew it was a piece of junk and that's why they forced it on me because they wanted off of their lot. and they knew that by keeping my deposit and forcing me take the van as take it or leave it.  Drivetime is a criminal in my book taken advantage of people who don't have a lot of money. They only open their lots in the areas where people are straggling and they take advantage of them.. They horrible people profiting from the misfortunes of others. I have talked to others who have had similar experiences with Drivetime..

You are an a**h**! I've read 4 reports here about DT and I keep seeing (practically) the same response from you! You SAY you aren't employed by DT but you sure stick up for them like you are. Why do you enjoy rubbing people's bad credit in their faces? You have NO IDEA people's lives or what kind of life situation the late payments may stem from. Laid off? Divorce? Work related injury? All kinds of things may/could have happened to cause them to be in dire straits. Why don't you get the hell off here and stop judging people. You clearly have nothing better to do. You JERK!

First of all you weren't "forced" into anything.

First of all Drivetime is a "Sub-Prime" dealer, some people call them a "Last Chance" dealer.  That means that they are litterally your last chance to get car because you have not proven you can handle credit, and no regular dealer will touch you with a 10-foot pole.  Now, the reason you are there does NOT matter, the dozens of excuses as to why you have had credit issues does NOT matter.  Because dealers are not charities and they don't care about the reason.  After all if they did you would go to one of the more traditional dealers who would have welcomed you with open arms..right?

When you ended up there you were also not "pushed" into anything.  You at any time could have turned around and walked out from the "shady" dealership.  As to the van breaking down, you also bought the van AS-IS meaning that the moment you signed the paperwork ANY repair is your responsibility.

You also were not forced to take the other van, you could have had the first one repaired under warranty, but you CHOOSE not to do that.

When you told them to take the van back, you did a Voluntary Repo which does not releive you of your financial responsibility.  They will(and did) sell the car at auction and then you are still responsible for the balance of your loan after that is deducted.  By the way at car at auction will sell for anywhere from 25-33% of the blue book value.  Oh and it will get worse for you...they could eventually come after you for the $12,000 in court.  Just like any other fianance company would when you have a reposesssion.

Oh and no I do not now or have I ever worked for them or any other dealer.
